2013 Skoda Octavia Launched at Rs 13.95 lakh

The long wait for the all new Skoda Octavia has finally come to an end, as the company has launched the car in India at a starting price of Rs 13.95 lakh (ex-showroom, Delhi), while the top-end variant goes upto Rs 19.45 lakh. Skoda Auto that made its entry into the Indian market with Octavia had replaced the car with the Laura in 2010, but this time both the vehicles will be sold alongside.

Launched in a total 7 variants, the new Octavia has come out in a total 3 engine options- a 1.4-litre TSI petrol a 1.8-litre TSI petrol and a 2.0-litre TDI diesel. The 1.8-litre TSI petrol and 2.0-litre TDI diesel are already doing duty to the existing Laura, the 1.4-litre is the new entrant in the line-up, which currently powers the VW Jetta.  The 2013 Skoda Octavia has also been claimed to be the most fuel efficient Octavia of all times. While the 1.4-litre powered variants offer 16.81kmpl, the 1.8-litre TSI AT, 2.0-litre TDI CR-AT and 2.0-litre TDI MT promise to return 14.72kmpl, 19.28kmpl and 20.61kmpl of mileage respectively.

Built on the Volkswagen's famous MQB platform, the new Octavia has got 90mm longer and 45mm wider than Laura, which make it even more spacious and comfortable than ever. The similar platform also underpins Volkswagen Golf and Audi A3. The new model also wears the new Skoda Logo, which will be seen on all the upcoming Skoda models.

In terms of design, the 2013 Octavia is a more up-market product with improved plastic quality, better fit and finish, better designed dashboard and many more. With features like ABS, Lane Assistance, Fatigue detection system, Adaptive Cruise control, nine airbags, intelligent light assistant and Traffic sign recognition, the new Octavia is one of the safest cars available in its segment. The 2013 Octavia is also the first ever Skoda car to get daytime running LEDs.
