Audi India, which is the third largest luxury car maker in the country, is going to have a new managing director soon as Mr Benoit Tiers, the current managing director of company will be vacating his position next month. Mr Tiers, who was appointed as MD of the company in June 2007, has done a great deal in building the brand name of the company in luxury car market of India. Mr Tiers, will be joining the Audi France in June this year, as the head of operations.
Heading the Audi France will be a huge responsibility on Mr Tiers, as it is one of the largest luxury car markets in the world where about 50,000 cars sold per year. In the tenure of Mr Tiers, Audi India witnessed a high growth momentum with surpassing the sales target, last year, by selling more than 1500 units of its luxury cars in India.
Though the company hasn't disclosed the name of the successor of Mr Tiers, it is widely speculated that Michael Perschke, who has worked for Volkswagen and Mercedes in the past, will hold this position. Moreover, Mr Perschke is not new to the Indian market as he has worked for Mercedes-Benz India, as a general manager of sales during 1995-1997. It is expected that the company will officially announce the appointment of Mr Perschke as its MD in a few days.
