Ford EcoSport has been talk of the town ever since it was unveiled at the Indian Auto Expo 2012, held in Delhi. It is in the news once again and this time because the Ford Brazil has officially announced it to launch it there on July 14th, the coming Saturday. The Brazilian version of the EcoSport's starting price is expected to be Russian Real 53,490, which makes it around 14.5 lakh Indian rupees. The official website of the company has already started taking pre-orders, and the first thousand people will get an opportunity to be a part of the launch event.
The EcoSport's first generation model is however on sale there in Brazil for years, it started long back in 2003, this will be the second generation model, which was first showcased at Delhi Auto Expo, this year and the similar will be delivered to all parts of the world. Although, a face-lift was given to older EcoSport in 2007, which certainly gave it a posh look, but engine was kept same.
The second generation EcoSport carries an all new engine, a 1.6-litre petrol, mated to a five-speed manual transmission and will have advanced features like ABS, airbags as standard. Ford is also planning to fit the award winning 1.0 EcoBoost Engine in it that they displayed at Beijing Motor Show, earlier this year.
But when it happens, is still a mystery. So we'll update on the same as soon as we get the confirmation. The Ford EcoSport is expected to be launched in India early next year, and the price is expected to be somewhere between Rs 7 lakh and 9 lakh. It will be directly competing with the recently launched compact Crossover, Renault Duster, which has been launched in India at a competitive price of Rs 7.19 lakh.
