Hyundai Motor Brazil has launched the i20's sedan version codenamed as Hyundai HB20S in the fast growing Brazilian Market. The newly launched HB20S is the sedan version of the company's i20 hatchback , which will also share the platform with the company's upcoming compact crossover HB20X. The same car is also expected to hit the Indian auto market as per the company's global strategy. Hyundai has recently revealed that they are going to launch a new hatchback positioned between i10 and i20, a compact sedan, compact SUV and MPV in India.

However, we assume that it is quite difficult for Hyundai to launch the i20 sedan in India. The company has plans to launch a i10 sedan, which seems to be a more feasible option for the car-maker. Hyundai i20 length is close to four meter and if company aims to make a sedan version of i20 for the Indian market than it would go around 4.2 m, as company already has Verna sedan in this segment.

The Hyundai HB20S (i20 sedan) in South American countries will compete against the sedan versions of already established Volkswagen Golf and Chevrolet Onix. The sedan has an overall dimensions of 4.2 m x 1.7m x 1.5m. The wheelbase of the newly launched sedan is similar to the company's flagship hatchback, which is 2,500mm. Hyundai HB20S has a luggage carrying capacity of 450 litres, which is around 150L more than the hatchback. Hyundai's HB20S sedan is offered in two engine options – 1.0 L three-cylinder 80bhp engine and a 1.6 L four-cylinder engine that produces 128bhp. The sedan is offered with two transmission options – a five speed manual and a four-speed automatic.

Now the billion dollar question is that- will Hyundai launch the i20 sedan in India or Not? Stay tuned for more updates. Cheers!!!!
