Maruti sales to spurt with new Swift launch

After a lukewarm response to cars in the Indian car market since the last few months, Maruti India is currently pretty enthusiastic about its new Maruti Swift sales. Maruti India will launch the new Maruti Swift hatchback on 17th August 2011. It is expected that the new Swift will replace Maruti Wagon R and the other high selling car, Maruti Alto.

Maruti India is expecting to sell 18000 units per month as soon as it is launched. This financial year, Maruti India managed to sell 34000 units of Maruti Alto every month, but in July 2011 the sales of Maruti Alto came down to 25000 units per month. Maruti Wagon R sold 14000cars per month. These two cars are Maruti’s best selling cars. However, the competition is increasing day by day as cars like Skoda Fabia, Hyundai i20 and Volkswagen Polo are taking over the Indian car market quickly.

Since last few months, Maruti sold 12000 units of Maruti Swift in a month’s time. The Manesar plant of Maruti India is back on track as the Maruti Swift Dzire production has been shifted to Gurgaon plant. As far as the new Maruti Swift is concerned, Maruti India has already bagged around 40000 bookings for the new Swift and 75% of these bookings are for the diesel variant of this hatchback. Even many of the consumers have upgraded their bookings to the new model. It is pretty clear that there is huge demand for new Maruti Swift way before its launch. Also it is a known fact that there will be a 3 months of waiting period for the new hatchback.

The new Maruti Swift was first launched in Hungary in 2010. However, in India, other new models such as Volkswagen Polo, Nissan Micra, and Toyota Etios Liva gave people plenty of choices to choose from. Therefore, to get back its position, Maruti India decided to launch the new and enhanced version of Maruti Swift in India with diesel engine, which will not only come with stylish looks, comfy interiors, but will also give extremely high performance and fuel efficiency.So, now the only thing that is awaited right now is the new Swift launch which is slated for 17th August 2011.
