Maruti Suzuki India has made an announcement that it would recall its 1492 vehicle and conduct a steering column inspection. These 1492 units are of Maruti's multiple vehicles manufactured during the tenure of October 19, 2013 to October 26, 2013. The vehicles are MPV Ertiga, largest selling hatchback Swift, entry-level sedan Swift Dzire and hatchback A-Star and the number of units are 306, 592, 581, and 13, respectively.
Furthermore, Maruti stated that if any kind of defect is found in the steering column of requisite vehicles, then replacement would be done free of cost. The company, itself, would call the car owners falling under this range in order to streamline the process and finish it without any hassles. Additionally, Maruti has also kept open the option of logging on to its official website and check whether the vehicle comes in this category or not by entering the 14-digit alpha-numeric Chasis number.
Maruti has also facilitated the customers by providing an option of visiting the nearest dealer workshop to ensure if the vehicle is among the defected vehicles. The new steering columns are already available at the official Maruti dealer workshops. Hence, it would be quite beneficial for the people to check their vehicles online or offline and get the steering column replaced as its an integral component of a car which contributes to several prominent factors.
