A rally of 12,000 kilometers would be flagged off on June 2nd, the day when the Sanand plant in Gujarat would be inaugurated. The rally is considered to be the longest ever rally undertaken by any auto maker till date. The rally would commence just after the plant launches and would pass through 40 cities in 20 states.
Recently in the past week, Tata motors assured customers about the safety of Tata Nano after the car being investigated by a 20 member team from JLR. This rally is going to mark the same motto that Nano is safe. The safety was concluded after a comprehensive investigation and an independent forensic (UK-based) expert confirmed on the same.
The safety of the car was doubted only after repeated incidents of Nano catching fire in different parts of the country. This rally would veritably be a public demonstration of Nano's capabilities and an attempt to change the wrong perception on car's safety.
On June 2nd the launch would be concluded with the presence of Gujarat's chief Minister Narendra Modi and Tata group's chairman Mr. Ratan Tata. They would fag off the rally called the Superdrive in three groups. Each of these three groups would travel in three different directions of the country and will cover a distance of 12,000 kms individually. The cars in the rally would sport different themes like sports, music etc to make the event a spectacular one.
The 3 groups would move in different direction of South, North and east. The caravan would halt at various prominent places in the country. The team Tata is trying to rope in some eminent celebrities to mark their presence on this mega event. The rally is expected to leave a great impression in buyer's mind about the car and its offerings.
Some selected customers would be given the test drive and the chance to be a part of this mega event. Each group would comprise of 3 Nano's with a support crew in an SUV. To make this event a memorable one there would be bloggers, videographers and photographers to have a look and feel of the event and indeed a source of publicity.
The cities to be covered include Surat, Mumbai, Pune, Goa, Bangalore, Kochi, Chennai, etc in South. Cities like Jaipur, Chandigarh, Delhi and Agra in the north and the third group would travel through Bhopal, Patna, Kolkata, Bhubaneswar, Hyderabad, besides many other prominent centres.
