Make way for a brand new Suzuki Swift. The new swifts will go into manufacturing at its plant in Hungary before the sales open in Autumn in the European market. On the first look, the car does not look anything out of the box until you pay attention to the bonnet that has a design similar to that of Kizashi along with the larger headlamps with its edge that goes down to the lower air dam. The tail lamps and headlamps have been redone which has enhanced the visibility and class. The company has not distributed any official pictures of the rear of the cars but is expected that it would have the same detailing.
The new Suzuki Swift is larger with its length being 90 mm, wheelbase 50mm, width 5mm. The dimensions show that the area surrounding the cabin space has been released to provide a solution the space issues earlier faced. Black cabin with silver inserts is what is expected in the new car. The new body shell made up of high strength steel, used amply makes the car light in weight, refined and stiff at the same time. The car also promises to offer improved handling owing to an increase in the front and rear track by 10 mm and 15 mm respectively. Suzuki Swift will also have an ESP when on all the models sold in the European market.
The 1.3L DOHC petrol engine is out and K12B 1.2 litre four cylinder makes it way in the all new Suzuki Swift that churns a power of 95PS at 6000 rpm and a torque of 118 Nm at 4800 rpm. Suzuki promises 22 kmpl in the European market. While the new Suzuki would meet the European emission norms and other standards promising its success there, Maruti Swift (India), too has been doing pretty well in the Indian market. Suzuki Swift will be speculatively be announced in India after Kizashi is launched at the end of 2010 making the its actual launch in the year 2011. It is also expected that though the car would feature advanced capabilities and technology, no significant changes in the price would be made.
