Tata Nano, the wonder car from Tata Motors group has not shown up impressive sales figures as the sale of the India's smallest and cheapest car saw a decline of 509 units in November when compared to last month's sales of 3,065 units. The downfall in the sale of Tata Nano was experienced when the Indian auto giant called back the mini wonder to fix the defaults as the small car caught fire quite a few times. As per the company officials, Tata never recalled the car. It is only an exercise of adding safety measures in the car.

As per the stats, October could not lure the buyers towards Tata Nano as the sale accounted a rise of mere 2 per cent compared with last year's sale in the same month. This year in September, as many as 5,520 Tata Nano were sold in the Indian auto market scaling high up to 61 per cent over last year, same time. When compared the year-on-year sales of Tata Nano for the month of November it observed a downfall of 85 per cent compared to last year November sales. Tata Nano caught fire for the sixth time in August in New Delhi since its launch in 2009 March. The incident took place after the company declared it as a safety vehicle three months ago.

Tata Nano registered a total sale of 54,622 units over last year's sale of 54,108 cars in a year ago period. The Tata Motors sale of commercial and passenger car sales in the Indian auto market was 50,419 cars in November this year, which was 50,114 units last year in November increasing the sales graph by one per cent. Tata Nano is available in five models in BSII and BSIII norms affixed in the car. The mini car comes with 0.6 litre, 624 cc petrol engine that churns a power of 35 Ps and a maximum torque of 48 Nm. The engine gives excellent fuel economy with a mileage of 26 kmpl. Bajaj is expected to launch a small car in 2012 in the mini car segment in Indian auto market.
