  • Exterior highlights include new alloy wheels with disc brakes and a connected LED DRL strip.

  • New spy shots show a 2-spoke steering wheel and paddle shifters inside.

  • Could also get a revised dashboard design, including a new climate control panel.

  • Expected features on board include a 360-degree camera and digital driver display.

  • Likely to get two battery pack options as the Tigor EV; could offer a claimed range of 300-350km.

  • Expected to go on sale sometime later this year with prices likely to start from Rs 12 lakh (ex-showroom).

Not long ago, a test mule of the Tata Punch EV was sighted in the wild which looked a lot like the current version of the micro SUV. Now, a fresh set of spy images have surfaced online which show a fresh design for the Punch EV. These spy shots also give us a look at the revamped cabin of the electric SUV.

Updates In Plenty

Going by the recent spy shots, the upcoming all-electric iteration of the Tata Punch will get a mild design update, thereby hinting at the facelifted Punch as well. The front bumper has design elements similar to those seen on the facelifted Nexon. It also seems to have the new connected LED DRL strip running the width of the front fascia as seen on Tata’s new EV concepts.

Moving to the sides, the two most noticeable differences are new alloy wheels with disc brakes all around, and new ORVM-mounted side cameras suggesting the provision of a 360-degree camera.

A Fresh Cabin

Contrary to what was seen in the previous spy shots, new spy images confirm that the Punch EV won’t be offered with the existing Punch’s cabin with just blue highlights. Instead, it will likely come with a revised dashboard design along with a new 2-spoke steering wheel, which was revealed on the near-production version of the Curvv at the 2023 Auto Expo. We also believe it might get paddle shifters for battery regeneration (as seen in the spy image), and possibly a digital driver’s display from the facelifted Nexon.

Other expected features on board include a new touch-based climate control panel, touchscreen system, and push-button start/stop. Its safety kit could consist of six airbags, ISOFIX child seat anchorages, and a reversing camera.

Electric Powertrain Details

The Punch EV will be Tata’s first EV to be launched based on the ALFA platform. Although not much is known yet about its electric powertrain, our guess is that it could get two battery pack options, just like the rest of the brand’s EV lineup. The Punch EV could offer a claimed range of around 300km to 350km.

Market Introduction And Pricing

We suspect Tata will launch the Punch EV soon enough with prices likely to kick off from Rs 12 lakh (ex-showroom). It will go up against the Citroen eC3 while also being a premium alternative to the MG Comet EV and Tata Tiago EV.
