A little over a month ago, the Volvo C40 Recharge was launched as the carmaker’s second all-electric offering in India at an introductory price of Rs 61.25 lakh (ex-showroom pan India). Since then, the C40 Recharge has garnered over 100 bookings. Volvo has now hiked the asking rate of its all-electric SUV-coupe by Rs 1.70 lakh, and it now costs Rs 62.95 lakh. Let’s have a quick overview of what Volvo C40 Recharge offers.

The C40 Recharge is a coupe-styled version of the XC40 Recharge, and both are based on the similar Compact Modular Architecture (CMA) platform. Apart from the sportier-looking rear section, the C40 Recharge shares almost everything with the all-electric SUV version.

Tech Inside

Volvo C40 Recharge Interior

Volvo has equipped its all-electric SUV-coupe with features like a 9-inch vertically-oriented touchscreen, 12.3-inch digital driver’s display, powered front seats with heating and cooling function, dual-zone climate control, a 600W 13-speaker Harman Kardon sound system, wireless phone charging, an air purifier, and a panoramic glass roof.

Talking about passenger safety, the C40 Recharge is equipped with seven airbags, a 360-degree camera, hill-assist and a suite of advanced driver assistance systems (ADAS) such as adaptive cruise control, collision avoidance, and blind-spot detection.

Battery & Range

Volvo C40 Recharge

The Volvo C40 Recharge uses the same 78kWh battery pack as the XC40 Recharge, but offers a higher WLTP-claimed range of 530km, compared to the 418km claimed range of XC40 Recharge. This is due to the enhanced energy efficiency of the battery pack and the sleeker and more aerodynamic design of the C40 Recharge.

This battery pack is mated to an all-wheel-drive (AWD) dual motor setup which churns out 408PS and 660Nm. With these output figures, the C40 Recharge can sprint from nought to 100kmph in 4.7 seconds.

It supports 150kW DC fast charging that can rejuvenate the battery from 10 to 80 percent in 27 minutes. Volvo also provides the SUV with an 11kW AC charger.
