- Nissan spices up its Sunny with a Handsome SedanNissan's in-house performance division is SUNNY. The skunkworks-like outfit has added its touch to everything and the work touches just about every important facet of the car. For Nissan SUNNY, the SUNNY starts with an aggressive new look that sees the body kit focus on better aerodynamics and a 30 percent reduction of lift at speed. Visually, Most of the add-ons are accented in a sharp color, serving to set it apart from its mortal sibling. Just in case it is mistaken for something less. Inside, it's all about the driver. The steering wheel has a chunky feel complete with the right way up, The bigger changes are found beneath the body kit. For starters, the SUNNY gets a 1.5-litre turbocharged and intercooler five-speed manual transmission, torque 6000 rpm. Having given it the go factor, SUNNY turned to the handling side of the speedy equation. There is barely a common nut or bolt to be found. First, the body has been stiffened, the front firewall is thicker, plus the floor and rear parcel shelf have been reinforced. The stiffening reduces body flex and improves the feedback the driver receives from the car. The SUNNY-specific suspension gets revised springs all around and firmer front strut tuning to go along with the monotube rear shocks that support the twist beam. Nissan says the response time from the shocks is faster and so they do a better job of keeping the rubber on the road. The speed-sensitive power steering setup has been reworked so it now has a better on-centre feel and a faster response to the input. Capping off the handling items are larger front brake rotors and It is an extensive makeover that comes together nicely. The first thing that surfaced on the very short test drive was just how well body motion has been controlled. The SUNNY neither squats under hard acceleration nor does it kneel and kiss the tarmac when the brakes are hammered. As a result, it feels pretty darned nimble. The short nature of the drive did not allow the Sunny to be pushed, but through one back street, it did begin to understeer when pushed into a corner, and mainly because of the mass over the front wheels; after all, the front end carries 55 per cent of the car?s weight! However, when compared to most front-drivers, this pocket rocket felt quite benign. A track day will reveal all. On the surface of it, the SUNNY seems like an odd candidate to get full-on. Dig beyond the fact it is a compact four-door sedan and that perception changes. In much the same way the Sunny is likely to appeal to those who want more performance and a healthy dose of expression without paying through the nose to get it.Read MoreWas this review helpful?YesNo
- VFM SEDAN..Best in class comfortI am proud to say that i have completed a year with my caaaarrr. I own the top end XV Diesel model. I use for both city driving and highway. One thing to look out as its a very big caar so its is not that easy to turn it.Its a gem. Not even a single trouble it gave. The Brake cylinder have been replaced as part of the recall and now the only negative also got ruled out. The braking got impoved a lot . The maintainance cost is very low.First service was at 10K kms it costed me 3653 INR adn the second service for 20k kms costed me 3800 INR. Looks and Stype wise its not a head turner. But still not a worse one its elegant and only the rear end is bulky. Its upto one's perspective.Cabin noise is low.. But the tyre noise is audible. The cabin looks very comfortable. The griege interior color is some wat boring. Black would be better Best in class comfort.rear seat comfort and leg room is at the best.It takes the rear seat league all the way to compete with Laura. Perfect for city drving. For highway its a decent one as there is not much aggression and its kind of sedate while driving in highway.Handling is neat.Steering respone is good. Mileage will be for City driving its around 16-18 KM/L Highway speed 80-100 means it gives around 22-23 KM/L speed over 100 means it will give around 20 KM/L. Best Features will be the comfort, safety, driving in city traffic, Needs to improve the rear seat thigh support. Its good but it can be better. Brakes were a concern but now as it got replaced its better . Overall Experience A wonderfull car. VFM. You wont regret it after buying. The service is also good.Read MoreWas this review helpful?YesNo
- My Nissan SunnyLook and Style-I and all my friends and family liked it.It looks much better in person than in photos. Comfort-This was the major criteria for selecting the car after living with a humble M800 for almost 11 years. I had considered and test drive of petrol models of Etios, Honda City, SX4, Manza, and I20. My rating is Manza=120=Sunny and Etios comes next. The Citys seats are good but the ride is bumpy on uneven roads and due to poor ground clearance scrapped all the speed breakers in my area.SX4 is the least comfortable among the above cars Pickup Sunny's pick up is just sufficient. It is certainly adequate and I felt no difference with A/c switched on. But at the same time lacks the enthusiasm of the City (wow..ivtec) and even the Etios (lighter car). Manza is the worst in this aspect and immediately taken out of our buying list.I20's pick up is almost same as the Sunny but reported poor A/C and steering rattling worried us. Sx4 's pick up is not at all sufficient for its weight and the interior is the worst among these cars. Reversing is a pain and also the reported high fuel consumption. Its biggest advantage is its ground clearance but lags behind in every other department and deleted from the list Mileage I drove the car for around 900 km through all possible terrains (city 20%,highway 50% and the remaining 30% through ghats, hills and all type of other roads that we can find in the western ghats during the last couple of weeks. The mileage I am getting is 13.9 kmpl with A/C 30% of the time.Drove sedately and never crossed 110km as the car is in running in period. Above 60% of the drive (time wise) spent was on hilly and rough roads and most of the time the car was in 3rd gear or lower (under 50km speed). Through the same route, I was getting 16kmpl for my M800. I expect the sunny to give 15-16kmpl after the running in. Best Features-Sunny XL has all the conceivable features minus fog lamps, alloy wheels adjustable seat belts. I was not considering a car without safety features like ABS and airbags. Needs to improve A little more pick up will do no harm and also the gear shifting is not the best, it is notchy, puticularly from 4th to 5th. The interior color scheme is a little boring with what they call the ' griege'. Overall Experience-We were looking for a comfortable, spacious and reliable petrol car ( annual intermittent usage of 3000 to 5000 km) which can take us through all sort of roads (not off road). Nissan is a world renowned auto giant. Sunny met our requirements and took the plunge. With this short time of experience, I must say I am happy with my decision though the buying experience was really bad and not receiving a single call from the Nissan customer care even after sending an e-mail message to them. This is a worrying factor. This must be the reason for the sagging sales of Nissan MoM.Nissan, are you listening?Read MoreWas this review helpful?YesNo
