Honda Might Bring In Ertiga’s Rival Based on Jazz Platform By 2014

The Japanese car giant Honda Motors is also following the suit of creating compact MPVs, which have been bagging a lot of demand and appreciation lately. Reportedly, in order to rival the recently launched Maruti Ertiga compact MPV, Honda is planning on rolling out its first product of the segment code named as 2NH by the end of the year 2014. Word is, the company has already initiated the work on the creation of a three-row seven-seater compact utility vehicle, which will be sitting on the same platform as the next generation Honda Jazz.

In certain car markets of Asia, Honda sells an MPV based on the Jazz platform known as the Freed MPV; the said neoteric MPV will emerge as the next generation model of the Freed MPV. But for the value conscious car market of India, in order to meet cost constraints and targets the Honda 2NH model could be pared down and the sliding doors could be replaced with the conventional doors. For the Asian countries, the said car will be affixed with both petrol and diesel engines and the biggest market for Honda 2NH would be India and Indonesia. The engine expected to be doing duty in the petrol guise of 2NH compact MPV will be the 1.5-liter iVTEC petrol motor which also powers the upgraded version of Honda City.

On the other hand the diesel version of 2NH will be extracting power from the all new 1.4 or 1.6 liter engine that is currently under construction. The Honda 2NH will flaunt good dynamics while driving and superb amount of space, thanks to the packaging efficiency of the Jazz platform which is sort of legendary. According to the officials of the company, Honda India will concentrate on the platforms of Brio and Jazz for the moment and will try to create a number of derivatives from the same. By the year 2013, Honda is expected roll out the saloon version of the Brio hatchback.
