- My Nano my family memberI still remember the day very clearly we were thinking to buy a car but never discussed which car to we should buy as I am fond of cars so I keep taking tesr drive of the cars & at that time nano was newly launched in cng . Me and my mother where out for some grocery shopping & I forced my mother to once have a look of TATA Nano & We took the test drive of the car & after knowing about a great mileage in cng & We bought a car and its been 4 years and exactly 8 months we purchased nano and have clocked it 70k+ kms but in 2016 we purchase a zest too but still our family is more happy to traveling in nano as it makes us feel connected and is very easy to drive in city traffic .and then after looking at my personal review i made 2 people convinced to buy nano. The nano i guessed will be with us till the time it takes it last breath though we are not happy with the decision of the new nano discontinuing as we planned to buy another amt nano after few years.Read MoreWas this review helpful?YesNo
- Nano Automatic - Better than any other car for City drivingRecently bought Nano automatic. Although I have Figo and Ecosport automatic, Nano is my favorite for city drive. Nano story would be remembered in management books as greatest case study where an engineering marvel was maid to fail by wrong marketing campaigns. Entire focus of Nano marketing was on getting two wheeler users to upgrade to Nano. Why would they, when they can simply afford a bigger second hand car. Nano is not best suited for first time car buyers as its suited for second car buyers. There is no better car than Nano automatic in Indian market for city traffic conditions. I relish it every Day as it helps me save about 15 min on my 20km city traffic drive. But I feel sorry for Ratan Tata and other Nano engineers whose great efforts failed due to wrong product positioning by Nano marketing team. Here is what I love about Nano 1. Small Width - Helps me squeeze through leftmost part of road and narrow road conditions due to illegal parking, people occupying multiple lanes to turn right on signal, metro work 2. Small length - Very easy to park in remaining space between a parked car and open gate where most bigger/longer cars can't fit. I call them exclusive Nano parking spots 3. Big Window - Tall seating and large windows make minimize visual obstructions while driving/riding. Feels like you are on bike but without the noise and pollution of road. 4. Right pickup for city conditions - Nano automatic in sport mode has just the right pickup for city driving conditions which allows you to go into those open gaps between cars without making it too much where you need to immediately apply breaks 5. Good AC - AC is very powerful and even in peak Hyd summer, I can't keep it on max cool for too long as it gets very cold 6. Tall Seating - Tall seating is more comfortable, gives better view of the road and getting in and out is easy. I hate getting in and out of sedan and hatchbacks. 7. Power Steering - Very light and easy to operate with one hand in traffic. 8. Speakers - Good car speakers 9. No big bonnet - You have perfect judgement of road ahead, making it easy to move across lanes when you are stuck in traffic. 10. High ground clearance - Those bad roads and rough side patches are no concern when driving nano due to its 180mm and short wheelbase 11. Sport mode - This is the mode for regular car driving. Economy is only for mileage fans. Some negatives 1. Car Bluetooth Microphone - Peaks up lot of noise and people on other side can't hear clearly. I use a portable bose speaker with microphone. 2. Image - Thanks to Tata's Marketing geniuses, this car has so poor image that people feel it's weird to drive this car. I know people in Bangalore who want this comfort but buy Mahindra E2O over this car due to image issue. 3. Don't make a turn in it at high speed, it may topple. I met a guy whose nano toppled during a steep turn on highway exit Overall - If you are looking already have a big car / SUV etc but tired of driving it and looking for something in city driving conditions, look no further. There is no better alternative in market irrespective of how much you are ready pay. Best part is, most fantastic car for city driving is cheapest car to own as well. Some requests to Tata Motors 1. Please release new version with following features a. More sound insulation b. Android auto & apple carplay (lift and shift from Nexon) like Renault did it. We should be able to take conf calls from car. 2. Fire your current marketing team and start a fresh marketing campaign focused on second car buyers who need car for city use. Focus on easy of parking and livability and how it's better than bigger cars instead of focusing on how it's better than bike. Work hard to improve image of car. 3. Reduce the price by at-least 50k. Not worth of 4L 4. Add reverse parking camera with dashcam as dealer side accessoryRead MoreWas this review helpful?YesNo
- Tata Nano- Nayi Soch Apnao carIn the age of costly and bulky cars Tata Nano is the option to travel smoothly in city traffic as it is small from outside and spacious from inside unlike its rivals. In last five years this car( Tata Nano lx special edition) has given me lot of pleasure and done much more which a two wheeler or a normal hatchback could not have done. Lot of Space, good mileage, powerful AC, very nice music system and elegant look due to body graphics and alloy wheels, what else can u expect from a good car. That too in the best price compared to other hatchbacks. I have been using this car since February 2013 in vasai and naigaon regularly and getting the mileage around 19 kmph without AC. But the best thing about this car is that it can also travel long distance without a single problem. I had been to Goa with my family(4+ 1kid) in the first year(2013) and since then travelling to Konkan via Kolhapur and Mahabaleshwar in Summer vacations every year. This car has never given a single problem in these long distance journeys and on some occasions i travelled for more than four hours continuosly. It proved its power on the curvy roads of Konkan and roads full of potholes near Alibaug. Due to its height it is comfortable for senior citizens. The only thing one requires is to think in a different way, whether to spend a lot of money just for the sake of status symbol or be smart and use low maintainence and zero trouble car.Read MoreWas this review helpful?YesNo
- My tata nanoI liked the Nano when it was launched way back in 2008 and with time my dream of owning the Nano was always on my mind when the refreshed variant was launched in 2012, a unique rear wheel drive car but the absence of power assisted steering even on the top end LX variant was the major reason for not going for the Nano then, as parking into tight spot, or taking turns at slow speed especially in traffic conditions was very difficult. Over a period of time Nano has evolved which helped me to make my buying decision to finally own the Nano grow stronger and then I decided to take the plunge and booked the Nano XT. The Nano has improved a lot especially with the electric Power Steering which features an active return function makes driving and parking this compact car so easy, it has made my driving experience more fun and enjoyable. It is no longer a cheap car but its more practical car, much more refined, with time it's style grows on you. Despite of being so small in dimension, it is one of the most spacious in its segment. As an entry level hatchback its interior packaging is amazing. Performance: Its powered by a 624cc, MPFI, water cooled, naturally aspirated, 2 cylinder gasoline engine with 2 valves per cylinder, mated to a 4-speed manual transmission, producing 38PS power and 51 Nm torque. It has a top speed of 105 kmph and kerb weight of XT variant is 710kg. kitna deti hai Nano claims a mileage of 25.35 kmpl as certified by the Automotive Research Association of India (ARAI). Exterior: I had selected Damson Purple colour with back roof for aesthetic purpose, makes the car more stunning. It has cute looks from outside and it is pretty tall which helps easy ingress & egress very helpful especially for elderly people. The rear is stylish with a rear spoiler; the black alloy wheels which I received free from the dealer gives a sportier look to the car. Interiors: The Nano stands talls, with a overall height of 1652 mm it is even taller than Maruti Ritz, it greatly increases the feeling of space inside. It has outstanding legroom for rear seat passenger which makes traveling in the Nano so much comfortable. The instrument cluster with updated graphics and an MID which consists of an odometer, trip meter, average fuel economy and distance to empty counter is very handy and useful for everyday use, the speedometer needle does a full sweep on start-up which is very cool. Some disadvantages: Well its pretty good for city use with 4-5 adults, but with AC ON at 60kmph the engine lacks the punch , overtaking need to be calculated well. With AC OFF after 60 kmph the performance of the engine is better. There is no internally adjustable mirrors. The bonnet has to be opened to fill fuel which is a bit odd. Boot has 80 liter capacity but with the rear seat folded down boot space is 500 liters. Many other advantages: It is indeed a spacious car and the beige interiors give a very airy feel. When it comes to fuel-efficiency I get an average of 19 kmpl, with full time AC and traffic condition it's about 16-17 kmpl. It has 4 meter turning radius means I can take a U turn without much hassles. The higher ground clearance of 180 mm and short wheelbase is also very much of an advantage on our bad roads. It has drum brakes on all 4 tyres, the brake booster does its job well, brakes are decent once you get used to it. AC is very effective, fast cooling. Standard warranty is for 4 years / 60,000 kms. Thanks to the Gold AMC (Annual Maintenance Contract) package, it is very affordable to maintain the Nano, till now in 2 years I have spent just Rs 3200/- on maintenance which is very cheap. To give you a cost perspective about maintenance I have spent about Rs 1500/- for my 2 year old 110cc bike. Verdict: Overall it?s a well packaged car. I am very happy with the car as it fulfills all my requirements. If you want a car for city use and cheap maintenance cost with good fuel efficiency then this is the car to look out for. You will never regret your decision. The dealer gives very short waiting period followed with cash discount with free accessories is icing on the cake which widens the gap between Nano XT and Alto VXI/ LXI or Kwid RXL. Nano is such a capable car and it has improved a lot since its initial launch, it is a well rounded car for city usage. It has all features (music system, blue tooth, USB, AUX) with superb air-conditioner to make the city commute a pleasurable one.Read MoreWas this review helpful?YesNo
- Tata Nano LX - The Mini Wonder From Tata's StableI have always had a high opinion about our very own " salt to software group " - the Tata group. As an Indian, I always felt that we should support Indian Brands 100%. Therefore, when I was posted to Vizag on a 5-year contract and was required to buy my own vehicle - I had to look for some model that would fit into my budget. The year was 2011, and there was a lot of hype about the Nano. Since the company I was working for had a very good relationship SRM Motors in Vizag - the Nano distributor, I called the manager. He immediately invited me for a test drive of the Nano, and it was love at first sight if I may say so! The inevitable consequence was that the cute little thing moved into my garage within a matter of weeks, and became part of my family! All my workmates at the managerial level were owning other cars, and mine was the first Nano in that industrial area. There was lots of interest from everyone who happened to see my Nano - and lots of questions to answer too! After trying to answer everyone within the first few weeks ( weakening my jawbones in the process ), I stopped answering all subsequent queries and just handed over the key to anyone intrigued by the cute little newcomer. The response was really awesome - with almost all the guys who got behind the wheel coming out with the same curiosity. How come a car looking so small from the outside pack's so much space on the inside? And the view from the driver's seat - a feel of being in a driver's seat of an SUV, with such a commanding road view! And the pulling power with 4 adult passengers - unbelievable! After a few months, my family came down to Vizag for a holiday and I wanted to take them to the Araku Valley. When I mentioned my plan to my friends, they warned me that the route was a steep hill climb - and the Nano was a risky vehicle with a full load of 4 passengers including my driver. But I had full trust in my Nano, and wanted to prove my sceptics wrong. We started early morning one sunny day, and within 30 mins, the steep incline commenced. There were lots of vehicles for the company - and ours was the only Nano on that hilly climb. Naturally, the sight of a Nano evoked curious looks from the passengers of SUV type vehicles. But it was a smooth ride all the way, and never once did the engine show any struggle in pulling the load. When I shared news of my Arakku Valley trip the next day in office, no one believed me when I told them that I took the Nano on this trip! It is 2017 now, and my cute Nano has been a faithful member our family for the last 6 years. When it was affected during the 2015 Chennai floods, the Nano service guys put my Nano back into shape without causing a dent in my purse. Now, I use it for my city rides in Chennai with occasional family trips to Tirupur and Kumbakonam. I should say my Nano LX has not shown any signs of ageing - and is still a workhorse like it was when I bought it 6 years ago. An interesting thing happened in Chennai just last week when I was taking my wife out for some shopping. I was stopped near the Airport by a Traffic Police officer - and I was wondering whether it was due to my AP registration. But to my amazement, his question was " Sir, when did you buy this car? What is the mileage you are getting? Is it value for money? " When I gave him very positive replies to all questions, he said " My son wanted me to buy a Nano for family travel - that is why I asked you " Finally, I want to end this review by saying that the Tata showroom called me on several occasions to ask if I would be interested in their exchange offer for their brand new model. But I have become so emotionally attached to my Nano to such an extent - that I don't treat it as a car at all. It is a living member of my family. I may buy a bigger car in the future - but my Nano will forever be a member of our family - until of course both of us run out of our shelf lives!Read MoreWas this review helpful?YesNo
- Our First Astonishing Car,Nano!I clearly remember I was in Haji Ali - Mumbai when my dad called up and said that I'm buying a car! We, in our lives never thought that we would buy a car but here we go, we bought a second-hand grey Tata Nano. It was used by a doctor earlier so the condition of the car was very well maintained, it looked like a brand new showroom unboxed car. We had the car but no one in the house knew how to drive it. My mum joined a driving class same day, her first class was in the evening 8 pm. She practised on the driving school car first and then started driving our Nano. For beginners, this car is just perfect. A compact car, easy to park in small spaces, decent pickup, cost efficient. However, it is not good for people for drive upper version engines but for us, it was just the perfect. Out driving teacher made us practice on hill, muddy surface and highway, where the performance of the car was amazing. We never faced any difficulty. But somehow manual steering was a little difficult. Power windows and AC were also some good features with music system for short rides with friends. It was a little noisy at the rear but that's okay. Talking about the space, it wasn't much comfy in the front but the rear was better. It is ideal for 4 people to sit comfortably but we 5 easily got accommodated 5th one being my little brother. Fuel efficiency was also keeping our pocket happy. So we used this for family travel on weekends in the city. If you ask us about the long drive, yes we took this car once to Lonavala, it was quite a smooth journey in moderate speed. I used this car for outings in the city with my friends also, where music system and AC performance was outstanding. We have very good memories with this car. It was not only a gift but a blessing for my parents to own a car. We were the first in our entire family circle to own a car. You can't buy happiness, but you can buy a car! Cheers!Read MoreWas this review helpful?YesNo
