Hyundai Motor India Ltd is the second-largest passenger vehicle manufacturer in the Indian market, only behind Maruti Suzuki. Hyundai currently has two manufacturing plants in India, located at Irungattukottai and Sriperumbudur in Tamil Nadu, with an annual combined capacity of producing 7.65 lakh units a year. The carmaker has come a long way since its first car launched in India in 1998, and currently has a portfolio consisting of some of the highest-selling cars in the country such as Creta, Venue and so on. As of now, the Korean carmaker’s Indian lineup consists of a total of 11 products spread across different segments. The list includes three hatchbacks -- Santro, Grand i10 Nios and i20, three sedans, namely Aura, Verna and Elantra, and four SUVs including Venue, Creta, Alcazar and Tucson, as well as the Kona Electric EV. As far as offering new technology and features with its cars is concerned, Hyundai is currently one of the leaders in the country. Hyundai cars are one of the most feature-packed offerings in their respective segments and continue to set new benchmarks. Considering the traction that sunroofs are getting today, Hyundai offers the feature with almost all of its products, including i20, Verna, Venue, Creta, Elantra, Alcazar, Tucson and Kona Electric. The Korean automaker is currently working on a range of new products for the country, including the Creta facelift for 2022. The second-gen Creta has been one of the top-selling Hyundai cars in India since its launch in 2020, but the rising competition in the mid-size SUV segment is prompting the manufacturer to update the SUV yet again. Hyundai Motor is also likely planning to launch at least three products in the country in 2022, which include a facelift for the Kona Electric EV, new-gen Hyundai Tucson, as well as the Ioniq 5 electric car that is based on the carmaker’s new E-GMP electric platform, and will underpin all new Hyundai electric cars to come in the future.
