- A Worth To Buy, Highly Practical Compact SedanLooks and design: yes, it is identical to the grand i10 till the b-pillar but after it, the story changes. The boot is blended superbly in the body which makes it look proportionate and the length is controlled under 4 meter. It also has the largest boot space amongst its competitors, 407 litres. The engine compartment has been designed adequately so that it utilises minimum space, allowing good wheelbase, legroom and a large boot. Front of the car looks amazing with a large grill and use of chrome. Headlights have crystal clear lens and work perfectly at night. The tail-lights of the car are big and bright increasing the visibility at night. The rear of the car looks dull because of lack of adequate chrome but still, the overall design stands out. What i liked is how the front windscreen washer hose is blended smartly in the plastic cladding one cannot make out if there is a washer hose or not. Features and comfort: oh god from where to start. Hyundai has always spoiled the customers by offering so much that even if you hate it, you will buy it. I am a perfect example, after having a test drive of dzire, amaze and aspire, i bought xcent. Let's move on to features of top end model. Push-button start with smart key unlock, 15-inch alloys- perfect for bad sections of the road, backup camera smartly attached underneath the license plate lights, remote boot opener and tilt steering with mounted controls. Now the top end comes with touch-screen infotainment, bluetooth, navigation,4 door speakers which have a really good audio mix of bass and treble. The normal audio player in middle variants comes with 1 gb of internal storage. All 4 doors can house 1 litre bottles. Front air-bags, abs come in an optional model. Driver seat height adjust- very helpful for front visibility. Front fog lamps, rear handrest with built-in cup holders. Rear a/c vents and cooled glove box- 2 very useful feature which provides ultimate comfort in hot weather, air conditioning is personally checked in the extreme hot weather of jaipur, 51 degrees in the month of april-may and also rear 12v power outlet helps you deal with your gadgets. Rear defogger- comes in handy in cold weather. All four power windows+ driver one push down, central locking, internally adjustable electric orvm. Front passenger sun-shade with mirror, front and rear room lamp. Enough leg-room for rear passengers and rear seat can seat 3 medium sized adults easily. The air throw from a/c vents is powerful and cooling is way beyond expectation. The meter console speedometer, rpm meter, engine temperature and fuel but mid only has the basic distance covered and trip meter. The width of the dash-board (from wind-screen junction to media player head) is less when compared to its competitors which helps in front visibility. Performance: Two engine options petrol 1.2 kappa and diesel u2 1.1 crdi. Mid range is strong in petrol engine, after 2000 rpm this engine does not run out of power. Ride quality is good, the shock absorbers work great on bad road conditions, tested with 5 adults on board and full boot with luggage. Under the speed of 140 kmph the steering feels highly responsive. Brakes are definitely the best and you can bet on them. The clutch is light and gear shifts are fast and easy. Petrol fuel efficiency arai- 19 kmpl, diesel- 23 kmpl. After second service i got around 23 kmpl on highway in petrol.Read MoreWas this review helpful?YesNo
- Looks Good, Feels Good And Drives GoodLook and style: i have been owning this car from last three years, looks fantastic especially the rear side of the car, and its a perfect car to showcase in the upcoming movies. Comfort:- front and rear both are pretty comfortable compared to any other sedan at this price range. my height is 6 feet and i can sit comfortably in the driver's seat plus the person sitting right back can easily fit in and relax. Pickup:- ac makes the pickup down, but i feel riding this car with ac on doesn't make much difference. the gearbox is so smooth and easy to switch gears. Mileage:- after the first service, the car mileage is increased from 14 to 16 kmpl with ac on. Best features: the boot space is fantastic, saves of stuff from putting inside the car. the camera makes it more secure. Needs to improve: the back seat has to be a bit wider so that 3 people can easily fit in. provide more accessories in terms of vanity kit, body cover and gear lock. also to work more on building a stronger body in terms of safety feature. Overall: luxury at a good and affordable price.Read MoreWas this review helpful?YesNo
- Modest in family sedan classMy car is two and half year old and still never give problem on the ride.It still gives an average of 14 km/l while running on highway using air condition . Bootleg space is enough to make a comfortable ride of 150-160 km in one move. Rear ac vents are not so effective but enough to keep the cabin temperature in comfortable zone. Music system is good enough to make pleasant sound but need additional speakers or strong bass speaker fitted in back door. Overall its a good choice over swift desire and amaze, somewhat look is not as good as amaze but its features are amazing at this price range.Read MoreWas this review helpful?YesNo
- Excellent XcentI just got hyundai xcent petrol (automatic) white colour. Exterior - very elegant and clear cut design. Interior - two colour gives a premium look. Excellent finish and quality materials used in the car. Boot space of 407 litres is a bonus. Highlights of the car - rear ac vent, reverse camera, parking sensors and best in class finish. Mileage - 10-12 kmpl in the city and 14 kmpl on the highways. The engine is very smooth and almost noiseless while driving. Have good pick while trying to over take. Fabric in the seat should have been better. The price of the car is also little more than expected considering its competitors in this segment. Back seat can easily accommodate 4 members but 5th one may find little congested. Light in the boot space is very much welcome and helps during night travel. Wheels should have been little bigger for a more sporty look. The suspension is very good in its own style. I felt very comfortable while driving on the bumpy roads. Front look of the vehicle is good if not great. The vehicle looks great in side ways than front and back angle.Read MoreWas this review helpful?YesNo
- Good family carI bought Hyundai Xcent S(O) Petrol Twilight Blue in November 2014 and have so far clocked in around 14000 km. This is my second car my first one is my all time favorite Maruti Alto LXi.After taking test drive of Xcent, Dzire, Amaze and then newly launched Zest I decided to go for Xcent (Those were the only Compact Sedan's available in the market then, now there are a few more to compare) as -In comparison with Dzire and Amaze this is a feature rich car (Zest has more features though)Cost of this car was marginally lower than comparable models from Maruti & Honda (Zest perhaps is the cheapest in the segment for the kind of features it offers, but the taxi image of Tata favored buying the Xcent). The driving experience is awesome and you will love taking your car out whether its driving in the crowded city or highways or hills this car rocks! Handling and control are excellent and steering mounted controls with Bluetooth make it just perfect for every drive. Few of our trips have been 5 adults traveling, but the spacing is just comfortable and even elders didn't face much problems during one of our long drives. While I am fully convinced about buying this car, only thing I don't quite appreciate is the mileage in city(AC in speed 1 always) I get about 12 kmpl and in few long trips (300+ km) on the highway yielded around 19 kmpl. While the dealership (V3 Hyundai, Chennai) is gung-ho about 15+ kmpl in city, I beg to differ. After having driven cars for over 6 years now I do not wish to buy their argument that driving style will have an impact.Overall its a good car. If you like the looks and convinced about the price point go for it!Read MoreWas this review helpful?YesNo
- THE EXCELLENT CARIt's almost two years I'm using Hyundai xcent. No compromise with power, suspension, comfort, mileage & look in its class. Made for Indian people the sedan boasts of style, quality, space, comfort, safety and convenience. From urban styling and generous space to superior mileage and array of features, Xcent has everything an ideal family car needs. Seats with adjustable headrests offering ample support, cup holders in the rear center armrest to hold your favorite drink, spacious rear seats comfortable enough for five passengers and ample headroom and legroom... every single feature was carefully designed for your delicate taste. The interiors of Xcent can be best described as stylish yet practical. The bright and airy cabin with its quality feel and carefully crafted materials sets the scene for many urban adventures. Experienced the exciting blend of power and efficiency, ride and handling, response and quietness, plus optimized aerodynamic performance. All in one car! The Anti-lock brake system (ABS) prevents skidding and retains car's steer ability on slippery surfaces. It also enables stable braking and restricts wheel lock-up during panic braking. Just one ride is enough to recognize the unlimited comfort and innumerable hi-tech features Xcent has. It is also one of the easiest petrol cars to drive in city traffic, the clutch is ultra light, so is the steering and every button that one might need is there on the steering wheel. I have always been of an opinion that the features like start/stop function can be omitted for more useful features like additional safety, projector headlamps etc. The Xcent that is currently a part of our long term fleet has already done over 17,000 kilometres in the last two years. This is to say ,the car has been thoroughly put through the grind already. Now 17,000 kilometres may not sound like a lot, but most of these have been done by various publications as part of their stories and tests and our job description does not allow us to be too gentle with the cars. This means a bit of creaking sound from the dashboard or some noises from the doors, seats, glove box or from anywhere else in the cabin is not uncommon. It should then speak volumes about the next generation Hyundai built quality, when I say there is not a squeak from the cabin. The run to save money and space by developing sub-four metre sedans in India has seen a surge over the years. After the Xcent was launched, we were itching to get our hands on the car for a longer duration and I did it. The small three-cylinder engine of the Xcent is very fuel-efficient as it managed to deliver 18.9kmpl. If you take the average of both the driving conditions, you will surely consider this car for your daily chores (because kitna deti hai is our fundamental question). However, this engine lacks bottom-end torque and you need go to down a gear each time you think of overtaking someone. The gear shifts are short and excellent and the clutch feels light. Most of the time, I had the car to myself and it gave me the freedom of driving the Xcent the way I wanted to and which meant I could play hide and seek with the commercial vehicles. The Xcent is easy to drive and the steering wheel weighs up little. And that's the end of review...!Read MoreWas this review helpful?YesNo
- My CarI purchased my car in October 2015, perhaps a great day when both my house stone laying foundation also was being done. It's one year since I purchased, I use my Xcent daily to go to my office and then back. I use a minimum of 30 km per day. It has been driven 11,000 km till now. I like the drive very much, very smooth compared to my earlier Tata Indica. I purchased it from Kanchana Hyundai Mangalore even though service is not as good as my earlier Tata but the car gives me good pleasure of driving as well as for my family when they go long trips. So far I have lot less running per Km as its diesel the best car I would say compared to Tata Indica petrol. The driver is also much comfortable. But only for those people who sit in the back seat when driving long I found them uncomfortable compared to the Indica. The Indica is more spacious than the Xcent though. Could not find what the problem is. Very good for city driving and you can manoeuvre easily with the help of small turning radius. You can really zoom through the traffic through the pick-up. Fuel efficiency is good on the city roads, better than expected gives me around 18-20 km/l. The gearbox is very well placed and gear-shifting is a very smooth and easy process that is the most thing I liked. Very good boot space. All in all, a very good car for the last one year.Read MoreWas this review helpful?YesNo
- Value for money with all features.I am driving my car for about 11 months. i purchased it on 30 dec 15. I drove it to my village (uttarakhand) from delhi. It was a nice experience . Then after 5 days its first service has been done. Nothing replaced changed. Car running very smooth. well as per my suggestion this is a nice car with sedan feature but under 4 mtr. the boot space is good. leg room on back seat is awesome. people told me they found it very comfortable and they did not feel any fatigue during travelling. It has back camera , which is assisting for parking. I have changed the headlight to projector headlamps and DRL, and you don't believe that after applying DRL in Xcent it looks like an extraordinary car. I suggest company to give version who have DRL fitted by company only. The manoeuvrability of this car is awesome. engine is good. I found a bit lag in pickup when driving in hills but now i have adjusted the clutch and now it's working fine.. But i will do the reverse because now the car is running fast. Xcent is very well tuned, pick up is also good. The plastic quality is also good. The in built Bluetooth gives you very ease while driving and talking hands free. (awesome feature). Amaze and dezire is no where near to xcent in terms of features, while dezire is a good car but xcent is best in the segment. I suggest every one who want to purchase mid size sedan car. Just for for xcent. My friend who drive honda city also drove my car and he told me that it is very good in handling also the manoeuvrability is better than his car. The space is bit less as comapred to honda city but if you are driving then both are same. I strongly recommend this car . I am having the petrol version, and no noise from engine observed. Now come for the mileage of the car . I must say plz refer to below observation by me when driving the car from delhi to my village and from my village to delhi. 1. Delhi to haldwani -> (Highway) avg. 17 ~ 18 Kmpl . With AC. 2. Haldwani to my village -> (hilly area, after almora , single road) -> around 200 Km ... Avg - 15 ~ 16 kmpl. Without AC Note: in hilly area peak speed is 40 ~ 60 4th gear when going down. else 1 2 3 gears when going upwards. So I think it's mileage is awesome and exceed expectations. I want to find any flaw in the car but i am not able to do so till now, the only problem is pickup which i have already explained. Might be the engine should be of more then 1200 Cc. If company change the engine to 14 CC and add projector headlamps and DRL on it then it will have no issue no complains and car will look good. Thanks for reading the review.Read MoreWas this review helpful?YesNo
