Auto Expo, the biggest auto-extravaganza opens for visitors today on 7th Jan'10. Auto Expo, the only show in India accredited by OICA, is a delight for auto-enthusiasts. Day 3 saw some exciting launches by big brands in the Automobile industry along with reigning enthusiasm among the general public. Maruti Suzuki launched the much-awaited Maruti Eeco today along with the display of concept electric version of the Eeco, named Eeco Charge, SX4 Hybrid, Concept car (RIII), Ritz, Sx4 hatchback, Kizashi, Grand Vitara and other products in its line.
Renault's pavilion displayed Megane Coupe, Fluence and Colous, with the latter two expected to launch in the next two years. The pavilion in close proximity to Chevrolet faced security problems and mismanagement as visitors were seen clicking photos standing on Car-dice. Chevrolet showcased Spark-LPG, Volt and Captiva Extreme.
Today the pavilions were crowded and congested with general visitors, business visitors, VIP, police personnel and media all trying to have a niche for themselves. Vast number of visitors unaware of the official timing (3 pm onwards), queued outside the venue desperately waiting to get inside creating complete chaos and bizarre. General visitors came equipped with electronic gadgets like digital camera, professional and mobile cameras trying to click close shots of their favourite Automobiles. Media faced problems as the Pass Updating system failed due to huge turn-out of visitors. The event managers could only assemble the scattered mess after the number of visitors reduced with time. VIP and the Police personnel were seen pushing their relatives without passes or registration fuelling the agitation amongst masses.
Yamaha, the bike giant attracted huge crowd to its display line as, the pavilion saw Male models on its bike as against female models displaying the automobiles in other pavilions. On its display range was Yamaha Diversion, T-max.
Cardekho team received an overwhelming response today while distributing its brochures and visiting every pavilion as car lovers found the service extremely useful showing their keen interest in its working. Amongst numerous pavilions of Cars, bikes and other automobiles some allowed visitors to have a touch-feel of their favourite brands while many pavilions distanced its products from its users.
Maruti Eeco launched in the C segment of cars, has been introduced for the customers who aspire for luxury, space and comfort while looking for a Car, as quoted by Maruti Suzuki India MD and CEO Shinzo Nakanishi. The car is powered with 1.2L, 1200cc petrol engine, DSA transmission which will deliver a maximum power of 73BHP at 6000rpm. Unveiled in three variants 5 Seater Standard, 5 Seater AC and 7 Seater Standard, the official is expected to be around April 2010.
The Cars launched earlier this week were all available for display for the masses. The crowd gathered certainly made the huge Pragati maidan look small. Dedicated pavilions of various Automobile giants had professional models alongside their automobile displays and company officials giving details on their respective products. As a matter of astonishment most people were seen dressed in Black attires as if following some Black theme.
