BMW India to start used car business by April

Germnany based car maker BMW has announced that it is going to start its used car business in India by the starting of next fiscal year. The used car business of the company will be named as 'BMW Premium Selection' and company is expecting that the used car business will contribute by more than 30 percent to its business in India in coming years.

Mr Peter Kronschanabl, BMW India President, said that, I want to make the announcement that we are starting our used-car business in India from April 1. The business will be known as 'BMW Premium Selection', in line with our global brand.

The company has planned to open its first used car showroom in Chennai from starting of next month which will be followed by another showroom in Gurgaon in the third quarter of this year. Mr Kronschanabl added that the company had done a study on used car business in India in year 2007 and according to that on an average a customer uses a premium of luxury segment car in India for 5-6 years. He further elaborated that the company wants to decrease this car uses time to 3-4 years.

However, only the cars which were sold after starting of BMW operations in India will be accepted from the users.
