The German tyre manufacturer, Continental using only in-house components and has turned the hatchback, Renault Megane all-electric. Megane is a small family car in Europe, first produced in 1995. Continental already makes the electric motors for the Kangoo ZE and the Fluence ZE for Renault. The Renault Megane Electric draws power from a 154kg battery pack to deliver 95bhp of power and 226Nm of torque.
The 18kWh lithium-ion battery pack is placed under the floorpan and delivers 150kms and also accelerated from 0-100kmph in about 11.6seconds. The upholstery of the Megane electric is made from a 40% renewable material called Acella Eco. The electric Megane has the AFFP- Accelerator Force Feedback Pedal, which is flaunted as world’s first mass-produced active accelerator pedal.
The vehicle sports special extra narrow 20inch alloy wheels which are the 195/55 R20 Conti.eContact tyres. These tyres decrease the rolling resistance by about 10%. These tyres will be coming in as a standard on the upcoming Renault ZOE.
For now it is said that the car will remain as a concept car.
