Force Motors to Launch a premium SUV in India

Force Motors, the Pune-based auto-maker, is expected to launch a premium SUV (Sports Utility Vehicle) in India, by the end of this year, reported a leading business news paper in India. The company was previously known as Bajaj Tempo, and manufactures tractors, three-wheelers, light and heavy trucks in India.
The company has developed an SUV, that will be placed in the price segment of Rs 10-15 lakh, where it will compete with upcoming Skoda Yeti, Tata Safari and Mahindra Scorpio.
As per the news report, the company has sourced the engines for this new SUV, from Daimler group, owner of the Mercedes brand. The new Force SUV will be manufactured at completely new platform and will possibly launched in both 5 and 7 seater versions. With this, some parts of this car will also be outsourced from Chinese or Taiwanese suppliers. The company has recently launched its four-wheeled light cargo vehicle, named as the Trump, that will compete against Tata Ace and Mahindra Maxximo.
A substantial part of the vehicle has been developed in-house using indigenous expertise. company is targeting the final months of this (calendar) year or the early months of next year, Prasan Firodia, managing director, Force Motors, reportedly said. Though, the company has an array of products under its India Portfolio, it has a negligible market share of 0.15 per cent in the domestic auto market.
