Ford India appoints Nigel Harris as its new President

Ford India today made the announcement of appointing Nigel Harris as its new 'President' who is scheduled to take on his new role starting 1st February 2014. Prior to this appointment, Nigel held the position of Vice President, Sales and Service, for Ford in the Asia Pacific Region. Till present, it was Joginder Singh who was instrumental in the company's swing in fortunes, especially in regards to the inception of the EcoSport into the Indian market, as he now taken on the role of Director, Corporate Strategy, Ford Motor Company.

"In addition, Nigel's deep understanding of the Indian market will help the company build on its strong foundation and develop a robust product strategy to ensure long term profitable growth for the Company and a bright future for everyone associated with Ford in India.”

From the above statement it is clear that work is cut out for Harris. Therefore in his new role, we would be responsible for managing and growing the integrated manufacturing operation of Ford India. He would also take the charge of product programs to serve both customers in India as well as the growing export business along with overseeing the successful implementation of Ford's expansion plans in India, through its operations in Chennai and its second upcoming integrated facility in Sanand, Gujarat. He would directly be reporting into David Schoch.

Nigel started his career back in 1985 with Ford as fleet sales analyst then going on to occupy various positions in Europe, Africa and Asia Pacific. From an Indian perspective, he served as the brand development manager for global B cars during Ford's entry into the Indian market, almost 15 years ago. This continued through his current role overseeing sales, distribution and service for Asia Pacific, which includes India.
