Modified On Mar 27, 2012 06:58 PM By CarDekho

Honda India's main focal point these days seems to be impressive and higher fuel economy and their future cars. To make Honda cars more fuel efficient, the company is working on a nine speed automatic transmission, which will enhance the mileage of Honda cars to a large extent. This nine speed automatic gearbox will be supplied to Honda by German transmission manufacturer ZF. And rumor has it that Honda will bring in the nine speed automatic gearbox featuring cars by 2014. This impressive transmission is named 9HP, which would be available in a transverse layout thereby making it appropriate for both all wheel and front wheel drive. Furthermore, this nine speed automatic transmission will keep the ability to support convenient features such as start and stop technology and will also work fine with the hybrid cars.

These days the hybrid technology and start stop technology are a common thing in the global car market. Therefore, the flexibility of this 9HP nine speed gearbox would be the major important point that Honda will need to concentrate upon. The upcoming 9HP nine speed automatic gearbox manufactured by ZF will be a small, concise and compact unit. This small size is accomplished because of the planetary gears in place of typical gears that are usually present in cars. This transmission will overall push the fuel economy of Honda cars by up to 10 to 15%, which will make Honda Cars extremely fuel efficient.
