General Motors India bags third prize for Energy Conservation

In India, General Motors has been honoured with the third prize for the Energy Conversation at the National Conservation Awards 2010 in New Delhi in the Automobile Manufacturing Sector. The award was presented by the honorable Union Minister of Power, Shri Sushilkumar Shinde. The awards showcases the General Motors India's responsibility towards the environmental concerns and the companies regular commitment which visions energy conservation in all its endeavours.

Mr P Balendran, Vice-President, General Motors India, was elated and said that, the award exhibits GM's effort towards energy conservation and environmental issues. The company has always strive and focused on the best practices in all its avenues and will always make an effort to contribute in the environment. He also said that, this awards also marks an importance as the General Motors has been selected among the various automobile producers in India.

The yearly National Energy Conservation Awards showcases the innovations and achievements in the energy conservation by the different industries, building, railways, state designated agencies, aviation sectors: the producers of BEE star labeled appliances and also the municipalities which has provided significant examples of the best practices which create awareness about the energy conservation potential and its implementation. These are the best examples which gives an idea for the future potential for the development and other various solid measures which help in controlling global warming.

General Motors India's production unit and the company's cars and other products has received recognition number of times. Such as, the three leaves award from the Centre for Science and Environment (CSE) for the green auto mobile production unit. Energy Conservation award from the Government of India and Quality Circle award from the Gujarat government. The company's ambitious small car Chevrolet Spark, has also won the recognition for its quality for four years in a row in India Automotive Initial Quality Study which is declared by J D Power Asia Pacific 2010.

Chevrolet has sometime back completed seven successful year in the Indian auto market. The company owns the engine facility in the Talegaon where it will make its first flexi-engine unit for the General Motors internationally in both the diesel and petrol powertrain will be developed together. The auto company has also commenced the LNG facility at the company's manufacturing premises at the Halol for the supply of the gas for its automobile manufacturing unit. It is also hastening the production by coming up with the second shifts at the Halol and Talegaon units to cater to the car demands for its products. The company is also working on the sales and service network.

Chevrolet will soon complete 100 years of its existence in the international auto market and plans to add more to its brand wagon. The cars of Chevrolet is well known for its quality and performance. General Motors, in India has a successful journey of 14 years and wish to continue by offering new technologies in the country. The company sells its cars under the Chevrolet brand and rules the Indian auto market in hatchback, sedans and SUVs. Chevrolet Beat, Chevrolet Spark, Chevrolet Captiva, Chevrolet Cruze, Chevrolet Aveo, Chevrolet Aveo U-VA, Chevrolet Optra, Chevrolet Cruze, and Chevrolet Tavera.
