General Motors to start Talegaon production facility

US based leading car manufacturer General Motors is working on its plans to start its engine production plant in Talegaon Maharashtra as per schedule. The plant is expected to start production by mid 2010.

Currently the Talegaon plant is working on a single shift and after this enhancement the plant will produce both petrol and diesel engines. Engines will also be exported to other countries as per demand. According to reports the General Motors group has invested US $510 million at their Talegaon plant.

This investment is divided in two phases. In phase one the company has invested in this plant to build a power train plant which was amounted as $ 210 million. Investment for phase two is yet to be decided.

In year 2009 the company will launch its three new models and because of this this plant is important for the company. Engines for Chevrolet Cruze, M300 and Chevrolet Captiva(AT).
