Haryana Labor department to examine Maruti Manesar plant employees demands

As per fresh development in the Indian automobile Industry, Haryana labor department said that the Labor Commissioner will be looking into the demand of the workers at Maruti Suzuki India's Manesar plant, due to which the 13-days no-work strike took place. The main demand of recently ended worker strike at Maruti India Manesar plant was the formation of a new worker union comprising of workers from Manesar plant.

Reports state that, the 13-day long strike which ended recently, but the main demand of workers to form a new worker's union comprising of employees of Maruti Suzuki India Manesar plant was not mentioned in the agreement. The meeting was held between the workers who wnet on strike and management of the company which was brokered by the state government.

Senior official of Haryana labor department said that Labor Commissioner will go through the whole issue and will take necessary steps regarding the formation of new union. He added that demand of Manesar plant workers will be worked out via proper rules of Trade Union Act. He further added that its fundamental right of any Indian to apply to the government authorities to form a union.

It is worth mentioning that on June 4th about 2,000 workers at Maruti India's Manesar facility had gone on strike demanding the formation of new union Maruti Suzuki Employees Union, comprising of employees of Manesar plant. Moreover, they also applied with Haryana labor department with an affidavit, regarding the formation of a new union on June 3.

As for now, Haryana labor department said that the whole procedure might take three-four months as new union will be formed after following all legal issues under Trade Union Act. Furthermore, taking a liberal step, Maruti India also reinstated 11 employees who were dismissed on 6th June.
