Honda that launched the 2013 Honda Civic 1.6-litre i-DTEC diesel in January in Europe, has now showcased the CR-V powered by a new 1.6-litre diesel engine at the ongoing Geneva Motor Show. Honda Cars India too rolled out the new generation Honda CR-V in India, however in petrol guise only, India will still have to wait more than a year to get this vehicle.
Honda has confirmed that the freshly launched CR-V will be offered with Honda’s new 1.6-litre i-DTEC engine as a two-wheel drive model from September 2013. This is the first drivetrain from Honda's new Earth Dreams Technology engine series to be introduced in Europe and it will be built at Honda's manufacturing facility in Swindon. The new 1.6-litre i-DTEC diesel engine is the lightest diesel engine in its class, which weighs 47kg and returns 118bhp at 4000rpm 300Nm of peak torque with CO2 emissions of only 119g/km, helping it become good at both the fuel economy and performance.
Although the fourth generation CR-V has been designed for global market, but this particular version is made especially for the European market. It has got better in most departments than its predecessors be it the quality, practicality or refinement. Although nothing on the pricing has been announced, but they will be announced soon when the launch comes closer. Further details and technical specification will be announced closer to the launch. Stay tuned to CarDekho for all the latest updates on the same. Cheers!
