Hyundai reports 13.5% downfall in sales figure in January

India's largest car exporter and second-largest car manufacturer, Hyundai Motor India Ltd, reports 13.5% downfall in sales figure in January in domestic sales at 21,016 units as compare to 24,301 units for the same month last year. Hyundai reports sales figure of January on Monday, including export, it sold 35,096 units in the B-Segment- Santro Xing, i10, Getz and Hyundai i20, 2,057 units in C-Segment- Accent and Verna and 62 units in the D-Segment- Sonata Transform and with one unit of Tucson in SUV Segment.

Hyundai Motor India Ltd, reported that its exports overall 16,200 units in January as compare to 13,399 units in the same month last year, that is up by 20.9%.

HMIL Senior Vice-President (Marketing and Sales) Arvind Saxena said, We had predicted that 2009 is going to be a very challenging year for the whole auto industry. However, for Hyundai Motor India Ltd the launch of the Hyundai i20 has been very positive and in the first month itself we have bookings of over 2,500 units for the domestic market.

He said that Hyundai i20 has received good response and over 6,500 units have been shipped.
