Brands Hatch (5 September 2011). Indian drivers Aditya Patel and Sailesh Bolisetti had a rather mixed outing here at Brands Hatch day before yesterday. Practice on Friday saw championship leader, Mateusz Lisowski on top of the timesheets while Aditya could only manage 10th, Sailesh found himself in 24th on a track where he had never driven before. Both drivers were fairly confident of moving up the order in qualifying, keeping in mind that overtaking being hard on this circuit, starting up the order would be the key.

Come qualifying, the top contenders in the championship found themselves further behind than they would have expected. Jann Hendrik Ubben found himself on pole position while Junior driver Moritz Oestreich was 2nd. Aditya made no further improvement, qualifying 10th. Sailesh made a leap to finish himself 19th on the grid. Aditya however didn't seem too disappointed with the result since the other contenders were topsy turvy as well!

The buzz about one of the most "exciting races of the season" began to spread within the paddock, thereby generating large spectator interest for the race. The race didn't fail to provide the action it's known for. After a blinding start, Patel moved up two places into 8th by turn two but only to find a car come spinning across the front of the Indian's car. That led to multiple collisions further down the pack thereby leading to the stoppage of the race. After a 20 minute wait, the race was underway again. While the battle in front brewed between Nilsson and Ubben, Aditya had a fight on his hands for 6th place with Italian, Stefano Proetto. However he manged to fend off the stiff challenge to hold on to 6th place. Ex F1 driver, Johnny Herbert, having finished 5th is not eligible for points, thereby giving Aditya the valuable points for 5th. Sailesh on the other hand drove a steady race to finish a credible 16th.

"It was a good race considering I started 10th on the grid. In a circuit like Brands Hatch it's very important to qualify up front and unfortunately traffic played a roll in hindering qualifying. At the end of the day, I enjoyed the race and hope for a better performance at Oschersleben in two weeks time." said Aditya after the race. Sailesh was also satisfied with his result "It's a steep learning curve for me and I'm learning with every race. I drove a steady race and enjoyed the battle with the cars around me. I'm now looking forward to Oshcersleben and hoping for better results as I have driven there before."The next race will be held in Oschersleben on September 18th.
