Industry growth goes negative in November 2010

The cumulative production data for April-November 2010 shows production growth of 30.29 percent over same period last year. In November 2010, production grew at 13.14 percent over November 2009. Domestic Sales recorded a growth of 17.81 percent in November 2010 as against November 2009. Both production and domestic sales declined in the month of November 2010 as compared to October 2010. Passenger Vehicles segment during April-November 2010 grew at 32.08 percent over same period last year. Passenger Cars grew by 32.40 percent, Utility Vehicles grew by 20.26 percent and Multi Purpose Vehicles grew by 50.75 percent in this period. The overall Commercial Vehicles segment registered growth of 35.16 percent during April-November 2010 as compared to the same period last year. While Medium & Heavy Commercial Vehicles (M&HCVs) registered growth of 47.36 percent, Light Commercial Vehicles grew at 25.80 percent. Three Wheelers sales recorded a growth rate of 18.41 percent in April-November 2010. While Passenger Carriers grew by 21.53 percent during April-November 2010, Goods Carriers registered growth of 5.85 percent. Two Wheelers registered a growth of 27.84 percent during April-November 2010. Mopeds, Motorcycles and Scooters grew by 22.98 percent, 24.31 percent and 49.07 percent respectively. During April-November 2010, overall automobile exports registered a growth rate of 34.19 percent. Passenger Vehicles registered decline and the growth rate was (-) 1.64 percent in this period. Commercial Vehicles, Three Wheelers and Two Wheelers segments recorded growth of 78.20 percent, 79.38 percent and 40.66 percent respectively during April-November 2010.
