Lexus Hybrid Cars hit Half-Million Sales Milestone

Lexus, Toyota's luxury segment subsidiary seems to be thriving on the sale of its hybrid cars. The global sales of Lexus hybrid vehicles has passed the half million milestone mark recently. Ever since the first hybrid, the RX 400h was released in 2005, Lexus has sold 506,000 hybrid vehicles equipped with the Lexus Hybrid Drive system.

Ever since the hybrid line's initiation in 2005, Lexus has sold many popular hybrid models including the RX 400h, GS 450h, LS 600h, HS 250h, CT 200h and the latest ES 300h. Among these the most popular are the RX 400h and the CT 200h which have so far derived global sales of 259,000 and 122,000 units respectively.

According to Lexus, Europe seems to be the most popular market for the hybrids with sales of 126,000 units so far. That accounts for a quarter of the world wide sales.
