India's largest SUV maker Mahindra Mahindra announced on Wednesday that it has increased the prices of its cars in India by as much as Rs 26,100. The prices of all of company's vehicles have been increased due to Bharat Stage-IV emission norms and slight effect of commodity price increase, as per a statement given by Mahindra Mahindra spokesperson to PTI. He further added that the effect of fuel price increase has also been taken into account while determining the quantum of hike.

While the price of its flagship model Mahindra Scorpio has been increased by Rs 10,300 to Rs 17,500, the price of its most popular SUV in India, Mahindra Bolero, has been increased by Rs 26,100. On the other hand the recently launched Xylo will become costly by Rs 15,300-15,900.

As the government of India has implemented the new emission norms BS-IV in the country, many car-makers including Hyundai, Tata, GM and Toyota has increased price of their cars in India, starting from this month. Because of these new emission norms, car-makers have to update their vehicles to make them compatible to the new emission norms and the cost of this up-gradation will be passed-on to their customers.
