Mahindra to launch a new SUV in India by 2011

Mahindra Mahindra, India's largest SUV maker is now planning to launch a new SUV in the country in the same segment as Mahindra Scorpio. It is expected that the model will be ready to launch by year 2011 in India. The model has been code named W201 and will possibly be manufactured at the platform of Mahindra Scorpio.

The company will launch the W201 model in India first and after analyzing the response of Indian customers it will possibly be launched in overseas markets like South Africa. Though there is no confirmation from the company's side regarding the pricing or specifications of this model but it is expected that company will launch it with a price tag of more than Rs 10 lakhs so that it can provide a option to the customers who are looking to upgrade form Mahindra Scorpio. The new model will be powered with a Mahindra's latest M-Hawk engine with both automatic and manual transmissions options.

Mahindra currently sells one of the popular SUV's in India including best selling Mahindra Bolero, Mahindra Scorpio and recently launched Mahindra Xylo. Besides this company is also in the business of two-wheelers in India.
