Maruti to begin work in Gujarat Plant by July this year

Maruti Suzuki India is all set to start production at its Hansalpur in Gujarat manufacturing unit. The company's board has given a go-ahead to the project. It is expected that the company will begin work during the May-July quarter. To start with it, the initial investment is estimated to be around Rs. 2,000-2,200 crore.
R C Bhargava, chairman, Maruti Suzuki India said that the exact date to begin work has not been fixed, work at the facility will start soon. "It would definitely begin within the May-July quarter," he added. The first production facility at the Hansalpur site would come up with an investment of Rs. 2,000-2,200 crore. When asked about the decision of land acquisition or buying land from villagers, Bhargava said, "This is an ongoing process. I am not aware of any update."
Along with Maruti, around three-four key vendors who have join hands with Maruti like Jai Bharat Maruti, Caparo Maruti and Futaba are also likely to have facilities at the Hansalpur site in Gujarat. Other vendors are also expected to open shop at separate auto parks coming up in the region. To speed-up the operations, Osamu Suzuki, chairman of Suzuki Motor Corp, the Japanese parent of MSIL, visited the Hansalpur site for proposed manufacturing unit. Moreover, he also met with the local villagers and had a brief chat to understand their views.
Osamu Suzuki said that,"the work on the plant would begin very soon, and that the company aims to start manufacturing from here by 2015-16,". He took a small visit around the site, where currently work on construction the boundary wall is on.
Osamu Suzuki at its visit also met with the Gujarat Chief Minister Mr. Narendra Modi on Friday and explained him about the company's plans and decision to start work soon on the project.
