Maruti's total sales stood at 104,791 units in Aug 2010

Maruti Suzuki India Limited, the largest car maker in the country has reported sales of as much as 104,791 units of its cars in India in the month of August 2010 as compared to the 84,808 units sold in the month of August 2009. The company's sales grew by 23.6 percent during this month. This is the highest ever sales reported by the company in a month's period. The exports of the Indian auto giant stood at 12,117units during the period. Where the A2 segment of Maruti cars grew by 25.7 per cent during the month, the A3 segment of cars reported a total growth of 34 percent during this month as compared to the sales of the respective segments in the same month last year.

The month of August had been full of events for the Maruti's domestic portfolio as during this month, the company launched new CNG variants of its 5 portfolio models in the Indian market. The cars that have been launched in the CNG variants during this month include best selling Maruti Alto, compact hatchbacks Maruti Wagon R and Zen Estilo, MUV Maruti Eeco and entry level sedan Maruti SX4. With this, the company also introduced a new K-series engine equipped version of its Maruti Alto model.

Meanwhile, the company has topped the chart in the recent customer satisfaction study done by leading global auto research agency, JD Power. Maruti Suzuki India is also in the final stage of the launch of its much anticipated premium sedan Maruti Kizashi in the Indian market. It is expected that the Kizashi model will be launched in the Indian market in the upcoming festive season. One more model that is expected to enter the Maruti's India portfolio is the small car Maruti Cervo that is expected to hit the Indian roads by the end of this year.
