Mercedes Launches 45th Anniversary SLS AMG GT3

Published On Oct 09, 2012 01:50 PM By Wajeeh

Mercedes is in town and it is celebrating the 45th anniversary of its SLS AMG GT3. The current SLS AMG GT3 is Mercedes-Benz's race-prepped offering that is actually not road legal. However that won't stop AMG from building a small batch of the GT3s in honour of its 45th anniversary. These have been dubbed the SLS AMG GT3 45th Anniversary Edition and only 5 models of the same will be produced to be grabbed by prospective Mercedes enthusiasts.

There are no mechanical changes to the beastly SLS AMG GT3 Anniversary Edition. However, it comes with a new paint job named Magno Graphite which was only used previously on the 2013 SL65 AMG 45th Anniversary Edition models. This paint covers every surface of the SLS AMG GT3 Anniversary Edition including the wheels and roll cage structure! It also receives a massive, boastful 45th anniversary vinyl on the doors. Interestingly, the number ‘45' isint painted on the surface. It is in fact a pattern that is woven onto the carbon fibre that makes the car body. Talk about exclusivity!

The interior is also the same as that in the SLS AMG GT3 with one exception. AMG will install a carbon fibre-shelled shotgun passenger seat, allowing for a passenger to be taken on your laps. This feature does not come in the SLS AMG GT3 standard edition. The steering wheel also receives changes in the form of a silver trim while special badges are applied to the seatbacks.

The engine in the 45th edition is the same as the one housed in the SLS AMG GT3. The massive 6.3-litre V-8 engine cranks over 600bhp and drives the rear axle by way of a 6-speed sequential manual gearbox. So there is nothing new about the engine? Well there is one small change. AMG states that the engine will be assembled and installed under the management of none other than 5-time DTM champion and brand ambassador Bernd Schneider. Buyers will receive a certificate of authenticity signed by Schneider himself and if they so desire, additional driver training at the AMG Driving Academy will also be provided. So how much will all of this cost a prospective buyer? Approximately Rs. 26,947,375.00 is how much this beast will set you back. Worth it or not is your decision to make.
