Mercedes-Benz to compete hard with BMW in India

Published On Apr 08, 2010 08:54 AM By Meenal

Mercedes-Benz India, a Daimler AG owned super-luxury car maker, is aggressively planning to reclaim its position of numero uno car maker in India. The German based company recently announced this year's first quarter sales figures, which shows that the company is performing very well and its sales are again back on track.

In the first quarter of this year, the company is aggressively launching many of its global portfolio cars in India. It seems that the marketing strategy of launching a series of new products is paying off as the first quarter figures of the company shows that it is not so far of being the top car-maker in in the country.

In first quarter, where the number one luxury car maker BMW sold 1,314 units of its luxury cars in India, the Mercedes just fall short of 8 cars from BMW at 1,306 units. Audi remain at third position with selling 778 cars. With this, cars products such as the ML-Class and the S-Class and newly launched E-Class coupe will also contribute in the company's trendier designs and target a younger demographic, by which BMW snatched the number one position from it.

The competition in coming month is going to be vary though between BMW and Mercedes-Benz, in terms of marketing strategies and launching of new models by both makers. In the first quarter of 2010, sales of luxury cars in India has increased tremendously, almost all major players of this segment enhancing their dealership base and facilities in India to catch-up with this rising demand, including Audi, BMW and Mercedes-Benz.
