Mercedes-Benz to launch diesel powered S Class tomorrow

Just a day more and we would have a new swankier S Class member in the clan of Merc as the German automaker is all set to launch S 350 CDI in the country tomorrow. Till now, the company only offered its flagship S 500 that costs INR 1.36 Crore and is now manufactured locally while earlier it was brought in India as a CBU with a price tag of INR 1.57 Crore. The upcoming S 350 CDI will be offered with diesel mill as S 500 already embraces a petrol heart.

The exterior profile gets much more sleeker design and has LED engagement along with some minor tweaks on the body colored bumper. The taillamp cluster features multi-level rear light which is a new addition in S Class family as now even luminous intensity of the brake can be controlled.

Inside the cabin, the German manufacturer listed all sorts of comfort and luxurious features one can think of. S 350 CDI gets the COMAND system connected to world wide web which can also sync with S-Class App on iOS and Android devices. With the App connectivity, one can control everything from massage in seats to temperature inside. The saloon also features 360 camera, infra red night vision, digital dials, parking assist, illuminated storage space, two high-resolution TFT screens at rear and front and innovative- temperature controlled cup holders. The reclining seats and steering wheel gets plain leather upholstery instead of Nappa leather.

The music in the car is played through Burmester sound system with 24 speakers together producing 1540W of sound. This diesel flagship model also comes equipped with Linguatronic system- a voice command system that even understands each street and road name irrespective of different pronunciation or gender. Under the hood of this premium saloon, it is expected to carry 3.0-litre V6 turbocharged CDI diesel engine that musters power in figures of 282 bhp and 490 Nm of peak torque.

The company also started one of a kind 'S-class Chauffeur Training Program' in India which is a multi lingual (21 languages) training program to educate chauffeurs about all the bells and whistles in the new S Class. Just like Mercedes-Benz S 500, the upcoming S 350 will also be manufactured in Chakan plant situated in Pune. So we expect that the car would be in the vicinity of INR 1 crore.
