M&M reports a sales jump of 24.31 percent in July 2010

India's largest utility vehicle (UV) maker Mahindra & Mahindra has reported a jump of 24.31 percent in its cumulative sales in the month of July this year. The company sold a total of  28,049 units of its vehicles during this month as against 22,563 units sold in the same period last year. The company registered a jump of 19.79 per cent in the total sales of its vehicles in the domestic market. It sold a total of 26,303 units in the Indian market during this month as compared to the sales of 21,957 units in the same period last year.

The company sold a total of 16,720 units of its utility vehicles  that comprises of SUV's like Mahindra Scorpio, Mahindra Bolero and Mahindra Xylo, and commercial pick-ups, during this period. The figure was at 16,688 units in the July 2009. Mahindra Renault Logan, the only passenger car in M&M's India portfolio clocked the sales of 752 units during the period as against the 444 units sold in the same period last year. The total growth in the sales of Logan sedan stood at 69.37 per cent during July 2010. Starting a new marketing campaign for this sluggishly performing sedan has played a major roll in boosting its sales in the Indian market. 

Moreover, the sales of the company's three-wheelers and mini-trucks (Gio and Maxximo) increased by more than 100 percent to 7,824 units as against 3,806 units during the same period last year. With this, the sales of M&M's  light commercial vehicle arm Mahindra Navistar Automotives Ltd. stood at 1,007 units as compared to 1,019 units sold in the July 2009, accounted for a fall of 1.18 per cent.

The company registered a steep rise in the exports of its vehicles with reporting a two-fold increase to 1,296 units during July 2010, as compared to 506 units sold in same period last year.
