“FASTag based annual pass priced at Rs 3,000 is being introduced. This pass will be valid for one year from the date of activation or up to 200 journeys, whichever is earlier,” said Gadkari. He further added, “This pass is specially designed for non-commercial private vehicles only and will enable seamless travel on National Highways across the country.”

Here’s everything you need to know about the upcoming scheme:

Gadkari has said that the new FASTag-based annual pass will be in action from August 15, 2025. One subscription plan that he plans to introduce is a Rs 3,000 / 200 trips plan per year (whichever is exhausted earlier). More plans are expected to follow this to offer more flexibility to users.

This scheme can be compared to the subscription plan of an OTT app, where you pay upfront for accessing the content on their platform.

Notably, such an annual pass will be applicable throughout all the National Highways in India irrespective of the state and will hence enable seamless travel to any part of India for private vehicle owners.

Gadkari further commented that the application or renewal of such an annual pass will be soon available through the Rajmargyatra app and a dedicated link on the MoRTH / NHAI website for easier facilitation of the processes.

    Benefits Of The Scheme

The main benefit will be to those who use these toll roads very frequently. The annual scheme, which will cost Rs 3,000 for 200 trips, means that each toll receipt will cost a mere Rs 15. On a regular basis without the scheme, you would have to shell out an approximate amount of Rs 80 to Rs 100 currently.

One outright benefit of this scheme coming into action, in addition to lower toll taxes over a long period of time, is that customers of such a pass will also be able to travel to all places in India without frequently worrying about the FASTag balance.

It will also benefit the people who have to regularly cross toll plazas as they won’t have to pay the full amount everyday to reach the destination.
