New SUVs lined up for 2012

The 11th Indian Auto Expo is a roaring success which has already entered the day five with unlimited flow of passengers just pouring in. Don’t imagine now that the flurry of launches is done with, the activity there has died. The organisers are still finding it hard to limit the number of visitors especially during the weekends.  Let us get a quick overview on the upcoming SUVs slated to launch in 2012 which were revealed at the 2012 Auto Expo. Let us start with the domestic utility car manufacturer who seems to have an expert hand in this segment.

Mahindra SsangYong Rexton: The car manufacturer was thought to bring the Mahindra Xylo facelift to the Auto Expo but managed to keep the spectators content with the SsangYong product Rexton alone, not to mention the Korando which was also in there for a display though.
Mahindra and Mahindra has not given an inkling as to what the Rexton price could be but, given Mahindra’s successful hand in getting just the right price for the model, we can expect something to be downright satisfying for the Indian consumers.Rexton could be launched by mid 2012.

Ford EcoSport:  One can’t fail to join hands together to laud the Ford’s success in bringing out the compact SUV with the new fuel efficient 1.0 L EcoBoost engine and a 1.5 L diesel engine to meet the needs of both petrol and diesel car lovers in the country with a Ford EcoSport price of around Rs 8 lakh. Checking out all the possible options, upcoming Renault Duster is going to be the closest competitor in the still scanty compact SUV segment. Ford EcoSport is likely to launch in India by the end of this year.

Renault Duster: What could be the fourth product from the French car manufacturer after its comeback into the domestic car market, the increased localisation will help Renault in getting the Renault Duster price just right in the range of Rs 7 – Rs 10 lakh. Based on the same Logan platform  which was claimed by Renault and Mahindra together once upon a time will be offered in both petrol and diesel fuel options with a 1.5 L Logan engine to power the car apart from the 1.6 L petrol engine to power the car. You can look forward to the Renault Duster launch to be around Diwali when many other cars are slated for a launch.

Audi Q3: Once again Diwali is when by the time Audi India launches the luxury SUV in India. But, the prime objective here is to give BMW the Audi’s taste for what it has in store for future in form of Audi Q3. The 2.0 L diesel engine is what Audi has in mind for the SUV and an Audi Q3 price of Rs 23 lakh whose chief rival is unquestionably the BMW X1 series.
