Nissan India Appoints John Abraham as its Brand Ambassador

Remember when publications around the world claimed that a Nissan GT-R’s acceleration is as good as that of a superbike, well I guess the comparison really struck a chord with Nissan. The Japanese automaker has appointed Indian celebrity John Abraham as its brand ambassador and considering John is also the ambassador of the fellow Japanese two-wheeler brand, Yamaha, the similarities keep on coming. John can be seen sharing his thoughts on the upcoming Nissan X-Trail SUV, at the recently culminated 2016 Indian Auto Expo, in the video provided below, which was uploaded on Nissan’s Inda-specific YouTube channel. The GT-R supercar, along with Nissan’s X-Trail SUV will go on sale in September 2016 in India.

At the occasion, President of Nissan India operation told that the reason behind John coming on board is that he appeals to the young demographic, which Nissan plans on targeting with its future lineup for the country. Out of the two cars showcased, John spoke about the X-Trail extensively. The Indian-bound SUV comes with a 2.0-litre MR20 DD petrol motor, which has been mated to a 40.8PS electric unit that provides the car with a combined power output of 184.8PS and a peak torque stat of 360Nm. The hybrid unit will come mated to a CVT gearbox, which will help the car to take on its rivals like Honda CR-V.
