Nissan Micra – an internationally successful model
The Suzuki models may be dominating the Indian market successfully but at the international sales charts, it's Nissan Micra and Chevrolet Beat which are making it to the top positions. Nissan Micra which is called Nissan March in the international market has reached the peak with its successful sales records. Six months ago, this model was introduced in Thailand where the model has already surpassed the 54,000 customer sales. Nissan Micra has also been successful in crossing the regional monthly and quarterly sales targets of the company. In just six months in Thailand, Nissan Micra has already topped 25,700 units. This is 28 % more than the yearly target of 20,000 units of Micra. The orders in Japan, after the launch of Nissan Micra on July 13 there, have reached 21,857 units as on September 13. This is more than 5 times of the monthly target of 4,000 units. In China, these sales orders have touched 3,000 two weeks after the beginning of sales on August 30. Nissan Motor India Private Ltd (NMIPL) has stated that it has recorded a total sales of 1249 of its automobile units for August 2010. This is against the tiny 22 units in August last year. The model has got more than 4000 bookings in India since it first began its bookings on 25th June, 2010.
Kiminobu Tokuyama, Managing Director CEO, Nissan Motor India Pvt. Ltd was quoted saying that they are delighted at the initial response the Nissan Micra has achieved from its Indian customers. But this is just the beginning. The Nissan Micra has been mainly successful because of its good value proposition which is combined with a package of quality features like safety, comfort and also the fuel efficiency, added Tokuyama.
