Porsche names its new SUV 'Macan

Of late, Porsche unveiled the name of its brand new SUV. The new SUV by Porsche will now be identified by the name of Macan. Previously it was called Cajun, but the new teaser image of Porsche SUV was released with the name of Macan. As per Porsche, the name Macan is originated from an Indonesian word which means tiger and incorporates power, dynamics, suppleness and power, which would also be the main traits of the new SUV. The new Macan is also a fraction of the company’s new plan, which is internally known as ‘Strategy 2018’.

The new Macan SUV is likely to be developed in the company’s Saxony production line located in Leipzig, Germany in the year 2013. This manufacturing unit is being amplified into a complete production unit comprising of body assembly line along with the paint shop. Porsche has done a whopping investment of 500 million Euros, which makes it one of the largest and hugest building projects in Porsche’s history. With this amplification, Porsche will create another 1000 new jobs. The new Porsche Macan SUV will be the fifth car in Porsche’s car range and would be based on Audi Q5 that is developed at Bratislava. Porsche Macan SUV will be introduced as an entry level model and will target the young generation of the country. As far as the price of the new Macan is concerned, it would be kept competitive, in the same price range of Q5s.
