Maruti Suzuki has been busy in the process of developing small diesel engines and we shall soon be seeing the new and first under 1000cc diesel engine for the Indian car market. This will be a 800cc three-cylinder block that is being developed for its existing small car range.
This new engine will make its debut in the upcoming Maruti A-Star replacement, which is globally known as the Alto. The Alto 800 and the Wagon R could also get these engines at a later stage. The company at the moment is testing this new on this new hatchback and we can expect this to be showcased at the upcoming Delhi Expo next year.
Maruti Suzuki will soon discontinue the Estilo and at the moment it is in the hunt to clear its current stock of this hatchback. The SX4 will also be replaced with a new sedan by next year. The compact SUV could be showcased at the Delhi Expo and it should be on sale sometime in mid-2014. The Wagon R Stingray was an attempt by the company to attract a different set of audience, but perhaps the effort wasn’t sufficient.
