Delhi government has announced the dates for implementation of the second phase of Odd-Even Policy. It will be applied from April 15, 2016 to April 30, 2016. The dates have been selected keeping in mind the board exams which will happen in March. “We will start the next phase of odd-even from April 15. The reason is that board examinations are largely getting over on April 12. There is an examination on April 22 but that is a minor one,” said Mr. Arvind Kejriwal, Chief Minister of Delhi.

Delhi government is contemplating to imply the policy every month, observing the enormous positive response it has received from the public. According to the survey report placed on the official website of odd-even ideas, 80% are in favour of the return of policy, while 63% even suggests implementing the same on permanent basis. “No decision has been taken on this yet so this should not be viewed as final. If the people of Delhi agree to cooperate and put up with an inconvenience of six days out of 15, it can be seriously considered. But we will think about this after the second phase in April gets over,” said Mr. Kejriwal.

When asked about the two-wheelers, he said, “the public transport is not yet ready to handle the number of people who would use buses and metros if two-wheelers were to be included under the rule.” Details of the policy will remain largely the same as women will be exempted from the policy along with VIPs. However, the success of odd-even policy remains contended. Various surveys have been done but no final conclusion could be meet out. According to a latest study conducted by Central Pollution Control Board (CPCB), only 3-4% emissions were reduced due to odd-even rule.
