The Harrier facelift test mule seems to carry a more premium touchscreen system, similar to the ones seen in Land Rover SUVs

  • Tata Harrier facelift in development, spied on again while testing under camouflage.

  • Spied with a big landscape-style touchscreen system which looks larger than its current 10.25-inch display.

  • Will sport a fresh design inside and out for a more modern appeal.

  • Expected to gain a new 1.5-litre turbo-petrol engine along with the existing 2-litre diesel motor.

  • Launch likely by early 2024.

After the Tata Nexon and Tata Nexon EV facelifts, the Tata Harrier facelift is next in line. It has been spied on yet again, this time giving us a glimpse of its new touchscreen infotainment system. The updated Harrier is likely to go on sale by early 2024.

What’s New?

Zooming in to get a better look inside the cabin, the Harrier facelift is seen with a huge touchscreen infotainment system, which is definitely bigger than its current widescreen 10.25-inch display. The screen looks something straight out of the luxurious Range Rover Sport, which gets a 13.1-inch touchscreen infotainment.

Even though Tata only recently introduced its new 10.25-inch unit with sleek bezels to the lineup, its availability in even the Nexon facelift and likely the Altroz makes it important for the flagship SUVs, like the Harrier and Safari, to offer more for the price.

Also, a touchscreen of the size spied would bring it closer to its segment rivals like the MG Hector that gets a 14-inch touchscreen system, which is the largest display in the segment. The new infotainment system should support connected car technology, wireless Android Auto and Apple CarPlay, and other modern features.

Other Known Features

The facelifted Tata Harrier will undergo a complete redesign for a sharper and sportier look. Changes will include a fresh grille, new alloy wheels, connected LED lights, and sequential turn indicators.

The interior will also be tweaked, probably for a more modern appeal. It could also get several feature additions, besides the larger touchscreen. It’s already equipped with a 7-inch digital driver’s display, panoramic sunroof, ventilated front and second-row seats (latter only for Tata Safari 6-seater), and a wireless phone charger.

Safety should continue to be covered by six airbags, a 360-degree camera, ESP, front parking sensors, and ADAS (advanced driver assistance system).

Updated Powertrain

The Harrier facelift will retain its 2-litre diesel engine with the 6-speed manual and automatic transmissions. Tata could plonk the new 1.5-litre turbo-petrol engine, rated at 170PS and 280Nm, into the updated SUV. This engine could be offered with manual and DCT automatic transmissions.

The Tata Harrier facelift will command a premium over its current prices, which range from Rs 15.85 lakh to Rs 25.21 lakh (ex-showroom). It will continue to rival the likes of the Mahindra XUV700, MG Hector and Jeep Compass, as well as the top-spec variants of the Hyundai Creta and Kia Seltos.
