Tata Nexon Dark vs Hyundai Venue Knight Edition: Design Differences Explained

Modified On Mar 05, 2024 10:17 AM By Rohit for Tata Nexon

Both are blacked-out subcompact SUVs but the Venue’s special edition also gets some extra features

The Tata Nexon, after receiving its second major midlife refresh in September 2023, now gets the Dark edition again. However, the Nexon isn’t the only sub-4m SUV in India to offer an all-black treatment from the factory. Back in August 2023, the Hyundai Venue was also introduced in the ‘Knight Edition’ guise, which is also a blacked-out version.

Both have a more imposing road presence, but let's see how these two blacked-out subcompact SUVs are visually distinguished:

Front

With the facelifted styling, the Nexon Dark has the split-LED headlight setup. All of its chrome embellishments in the bumper have been given the black treatment while the silver skid plate is now black as well. On the Venue’s fascia, you notice the grille and the ‘Hyundai’ logo finished in the dark black shade. It also has a smoked effect in the headlights, brass inserts in the bumper, and a black finish for the skid plate as well.

Side

In profile, the Tata SUV is seen with the 16-inch black alloy wheels, blacked-out ORVM housings, and the ‘#Dark’ badges on the front fenders. On the other hand, the Venue Knight Edition comes with a black finish for the alloy wheels (having brass inserts as well) and red brake callipers, roof rails, and ORVMs.

Rear

The rear of the Nexon Dark features the ‘Nexon’ moniker and the bumper both finished in a black shade. Hyundai has also applied a similar finish for its logo and the ‘Venue’ badge on the SUV’s rear, along with the ‘Knight’ emblem. The Hyundai SUV also sports brass accents in the bumper.

Cabin

Both the SUVs here come with an all-black cabin theme to go with the overall character of their special editions. The Nexon gets black leatherette upholstery with the carmaker’s tri-arrow pattern and the ‘Dark’ branding on the headrests. In the Venue Knight Edition, you get brass-coloured inserts all around the cabin, including the black seat upholstery with brass accents. For a sportier and premium look inside, the pedals get a metal finish and it gets 3D designer mats.

Features Lists

Tata has equipped the Nexon Dark with the same features as the standard model. It gets dual 10.25-inch screens (one for infotainment and the other for driver information). Other features include a sunroof, ventilated front seats, and wireless phone charging. Its safety net includes six airbags, a 360-degree camera, and a tyre pressure monitoring system (TPMS).

The Venue Knight Edition is also loaded with amenities such as an 8-inch touchscreen, a sunroof, wireless phone charging, auto-dimming IRVM, and dual-camera dashcam: the latter two being the new additions on the special edition. Hyundai is offering it with safety features like six airbags, a reversing camera, and a tyre pressure monitoring system (TPMS).
