July has witnessed a handsome number of launches, both on the luxury segment end and mass volume side. While cars like Hyundai Creta, Honda Jazz stayed on the top spot of the prospective buyer’s list, Maserati Ghibli and Quattroporte along with the BMW X3 and the X6 attracted a lot of attention. Besides, there were many updates to the existing models and a couple of unveils for the coming months, Chevy’s Trailblazer and Spin for instance.
Like this month, August will also get your new car buying list revised. Here are four cars that are slated to be launched this month.
Ford Figo Aspire
Ford’s first ever shot at the compact sedan segment is heavily armed in the shape of Figo Aspire. Let alone, the looks of the car are praised around the country. It’s the armoury that lies underneath it. Safety is the focus for the American this time and the standardization of dual front airbags is a sensible move. Also, the top end trim 1.5-litre automatic petrol will come loaded with 6-Airbags, ESP, TCS and Hill Launch Assist. The monocoque frame is constructed out of high-strength steel cage that makes it stiff from inside.
The bookings of the car have already begun and the launch would take place in the second week of August, most probably on 10th. Price-wise, we are looking at something that may lie around a bracket of Rs. 5.30 lac to Rs. 7.50 lac rupees.
Maruti S-Cross
The premium crossover, S-Cross-as Maruti likes to call it, will be introduced on August 5th. But, the centre of discussion is not the exterior design, its the 1.6-litre diesel motor from Fiat that twists out a segment-best 320 Nm of torque. The motor finds a new home in this huge crossover that is ready in its elements to take on the competition. The stage is set in the form of Maruti’s premium dealership NEXA and it promises a personal car buying and keeping experience for every customer. The car is wrapped in premium stuff on the inside and the outside get standard projector headlamps and DRLs.
"Competizione. Competizione. Boy! you just can’t get enough of the coolness of this word. I mean, the day I heard it I am repeating it over and over again like a kid, just to get a hang of this."
Abarth 595 Competizione
Competizione. Competizione. Boy! you just can’t get enough of the coolness of this word. I mean, the day I heard it I am repeating it over and over again like a kid, just to get a hang of this. Well, leaving aside my obsession for this word, the hot-blooded Abarth brand is making its entry in the Indian market with the 595 Competizione this August 4th.
The Italian performance brand is long recognized for the performance packed machine it makes. The 595 will enter the Indian auto scene to give enthusiasts a taste of it’s brutal performance and style. The car will surely impress with its large racing wheels, retro design cues, sporty interiors, Scorpion insignias all around and, of course, the unmistakable growl. It will be powered by a 1.4-litre T-Jet motor that is expected to produce around 158 bhps and will be hauling only around 1050 kgs.
Ertiga Facelift
Maruti will be bringing the facelifted version of its popular MPV Ertiga. The car has been spied a few times on the Indian roads. The changes as noted on the test vehicle are some additions of chrome garnishes on the grill and a new bumper as well. There are minor changes anticipated on the inside while the car will retain the same set of engines under the hood. Expected launch is around August 20th.
