Car manufacturers have planned a sparkling Diwali this time, it seems. The months of September and October are expected to be lined-up with many car launches in India that comprises of small cars to sedans, crossovers to SUVs. The car market has already witnessed the launch of diesel variants of Toyota Etios sedan and hatchback Toyota Etios Liva Diesel, Mercedes-Benz CLS class four-door coupe, Renault Koleos SUV and new Mahindra Bolero the rugged SUV till the latest.

Honda India has slated the launch of its small car, Honda Brio on September 27. Honda India envisages the small car to be a great traffic puller with the Honda Brio price around Rs 4 lakhs for its base variant that is likely to restrict with offering just the airbags to maintain the low cost. Honda Brio is expected to house a 1.2 L i-VTEC engine with suitable gear ratios to offer best possible torque and power output.

The India auto major Mahindra has its Mahindra XUV 500 in the offing, pronounced as XUV five double-Oh that is to be introduced in the market on 28th of September. M&M is said to launch the SUV in India and South Africa initially, followed by the launch in the other emerging car markets. The SUV is expected to be made available in two-wheel drive and the four-wheel drive options. The SUV is likely to power a 2.2 L mHawk engine producing a peak power of 120 Bhp and peak torque of 290 Nm, well mated with a 6 -speed manual transmission. However, the 6-speed automatic transmission is also on the cards. The Mahindra XUV500 price is believed to be in the range of Rs 12 - Rs 14 lakhs to compete against its rivals Tata Aria, Chevrolet Captiva and Honda CR-V.

Tata Motors, the country's second largest automobile manufacturer is said to offer its new SUV Tata Safari Merlin in 4x4 drive option powered by a 2.2 liter DICOR engine to produce a peak power of 140 PS and peak torque of 320 Nm. As of now, the company envisage having both Tata Merlin and Tata Safari to co-exist in the market. The Tata Safari Merlin price is expected to be around Rs 10 lakhs. Another SUV slated to be launched soon from M&M stable is Mahindra Xylo Mini, a compact version of the existing top player in the SUV segment, Mahindra Xylo. The Mini SUV is a seven seater providing two child seats in the rear and promises an excellent mileage of 15 kmpl in city and 18 kmpl on the highways. The Mahindra Xylo mini SUV will have a 1.5 liter 3-cylinder turbocharged CRDI engine mated with a 5 speed manual gearbox. The SUV will be featuring the ABS, airbags for driver and passenger safety and front fog lights to mention a few. The Mahindra Xylo Mini price is expected to be around Rs 6 lakhs.

Skoda Lauretta sedan is supposed to come in both the petrol and the diesel variants at the price range of Rs 7- Rs 8 lakhs. Equipped with a 1.6 L 4-cylinder in-line DOHC engine, the sedan promises a peak power output of 103 hp and 153 Nm peak torque mated with a 5-speed manual gearbox. The diesel engine is however, going to be a 1.6 L 4-cylinder CRD engine with 135 hp peak power and 250 Nm peak torque. The petrol variant provides the mileage of 15 kmpl and the diesel variant promises a mileage of 20 kmpl on an average.

Another sedan for Skoda's stable is the Skoda Rapid that is slated to be launched in the month of October to challenge its rival Volkswagen Vento in the sedan segment. The Skoda Rapid has been built on the same platform as that of VW Vento to carry the same 1.6 L petrol and diesel engine to 105 Bhp peak power output. The Skoda Rapid price is hoped to be around Rs 7 - Rs 8 lakh, whose designs are said to be borrowed from the Vision D concept car showcased in Geneva. Hyundai Motors, the Korean Auto brand is all set to introduce the Hyundai Eon, code named as HA in sub compact car segment to counter its all time rival Martui India's Alto. The sub compact car is likely to be launched around the Diwali time to be priced under 3 lakhs. The Hyundai Eon is believed to come with 800 cc engine to generate a peak power of 56 PS and peak torque of 7.65 Kgm. The 3.5 m car will have the same design as that of the Hyundai i10 Kappa2.
