Car manufacturer Volvo suffered steep fall in sales in year 2008. According to company, Volvo manage to sell only 100 units in the year 2008. According to company the main reason behind this fall in sales is absence of a good distribution network. According to Paul De Voijs, Managing Director of Volvo India the company is relatively new in the Indian auto sector. He added that company failed to open as many dealership networks as it planned to open.

According to market analysts the company suffered from fall in sales because of high prices of its vehicles compare to other vehicles of their range. Currently Volvo sells S80 and XC90 in India which are in the range of 40-45 lakhs and are costlier compare to other vehicles like Mercedes C220, BMW 325i. and Audi A4.
